The Center for the Study of Religious Freedom leads the spring 2015 installment of the College's Readings With Wesleyan series on the topic of "World Religions 101: A Quick Look at Religions around the World and in Hampton Roads." 17th Annual Empty Bowls Charity Dinner
5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
The Ceramic Designers Association and the VWC Community Service Office are proud to sponsor the 17th Annual Empty Bowls Charity Dinner on Friday, March 13 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the Boyd Dining Center on the Virginia Wesleyan campus. This event raises close to $20,000 a year, donating the proceeds to charities for the hungry in Hampton Roads. Patrons purchase a ticket and select a hand-crafted bowl, cup, plate, etc. made by local potters, partake of a modest soup meal, and shop at an artisan's silent auction. Tickets are on sale at various outlets, including the VWC Bookstore. This event is organized by the Ceramic Designers Association and the VWC Community Service Office, with soups donated by Sodexo. Tickets are $20 in advance / $25 at the door. Gift certificates are available. Spend your spring break with Habitat for Humanity building an affordable house for a deserving family from March 18-21. Cost is $40 and includes transportation, supplies, food, some home-cooked meals and evening activities. Housing is on campus. American Red Cross Blood Drive
11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
An American Red Cross Blood Drive will take place Wednesday, April 22 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the CMAC inside the Jane P. Batten Student Center. Sign up to donate blood online at www.redcrossblood.org; scheduled blood donors will complete the donation process in about an hour. Walk-ins are welcome as space is available. Volunteers are needed at registration and at the canteen on the day of the drive. Volunteers may sign up in the Office of Community Service for one-hour shifts during the drive.
