Associate Director of College Communications
Production and Photography Manager
What is it I do?
That's a good question. It changes sometimes minute by minute. Sometimes I feel like a jack-of all-trades, and, to be quite honest, I kind of like it that way. I love researching a project and putting all the pieces together. Maybe it's my secret desire to be a private investigator. Like an Indian trader, I too, am a deal maker. I strive to get the biggest bang out of our advertising dollars, not to mention the best quality in print production, mailing services or with media buys.
But even a good negotiator should be mindful of establishing good working partnerships and as a consummate "people pleaser" I do my best. As College Communications Production Manager, I am also responsible for updating web content, specifically the online directory and calendar, and the creation, design and management of messages for the College's Venus 1500 electronic sign. Did I mention that I am the chief shooter (photographer) for College Communications. But please don't ask me to wash windows!
In addition, I keep busy managing or rather juggling a variety of challenging public relations and marketing communication responsibilities all while working closely with our dynamite team to coordinate the production of marketing materials campus wide.
My Professional Experience
I joined the Virginia Wesleyan College Communications Team in August 2006. I am a native of Richmond, Virginia; although, Norfolk has been my home since 1983. I am a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.A. in Communication Arts & Design. I have a lot of professional experience (you can do the math) in advertising, marketing, design, photography and the commercial printing industry both locally and regionally.
My Favorite Kind of Project
Working with creative people and the campus community to develop and implement a project from conception to delivery, with time to spare. (Yes, I do indulge in a huge fantasy world)
Shooting environmental portraits and assisting the College community in the development, preparation and production of various print, electronic and creative projects; in addition to, working with outside vendors to ensure projects are produced in a timely and cost efficient manner.
I am happily married and the proud mother of two extraordinary daughters. My greatest joys are times I spend with my family and special friends! I enjoy jazz, singing the blues, photography, art and playing with Louie, our thirteen year old puppy. I love the sun, the sand and anywhere tropical, pair that with a good book and a great glass of wine and I am in a spiritual place.
