Dr. Adams is an Adjunct Associate Professor. He holds a B.S. in Ceramic Engineering from Rutgers University, an M.S. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and an M.S. in Materials Engineering both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D. in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University. Prior to joining the academic community, Dr. Adams had more than 25 years of program oversight, project management, and consulting experience in positions of increasing responsibility in both the military and private industry. As a program manager he was responsible for all aspects of a geographic region for a large information technology company with an annual budget of $300 million. As a Navy project manager he supervised and coordinated two highly complex nuclear submarine overhauls each worth in excess of $240 million. As a consultant he provided specialized consulting services for business information, enterprise resource planning, and scheduling systems to a wide variety of federal government clients. Dr. Adams is a full-time Assistant Research Professor in the Engineering Management and Systems Engineering Department of the Frank Batten College of Engineering and Technology at Old Dominion University. His research interests include software engineering project management frameworks, systems engineering methodologies, system of systems engineering, the design and implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and the use of enterprise architectures. Dr. Adams is a retired Navy submarine engineering duty officer, a senior member of the IEEE, a member of the American Society for Engineering Management, the American Association of University Professors, and the United States Naval Institute.
