Joe Scullion retired from the U.S. Navy after a successful career as a Nuclear Engineer. Joe graduated from the Navy Nuclear Power School and the Navy Nuclear Prototype. He served on several Nimitz-class carriers as a division supervisor. After retiring from the Navy, Joe went to work at Newport News Shipbuilding, where he is the Lead Engineer at the Steam Generator Chemical Cleaning Facility (part of the carrier refueling overhaul). At the facility, Joe supervises day-to-day operations, project planning, and project management. Joe attended Virginia Wesleyan College in the Liberal Arts Management Program and graduated in 2005. His goal on graduation was to earn a graduate degree and teach at a “private college”, like VWC. He earned his MBA from Saint Leo University (Saint Leo, FL) in August of 2011, and began teaching at VWC the next day. Joe lives in Virginia Beach with his wife of 32 years, Marla. His passion is studying history (he has a collection of antique Bibles dating from the 1600’s) and playing bass guitar.
