Current External Scholarships

Inquire about financial aid programs sponsored by your or your parents' employers. Also pursue financial aid scholarships on the web and through your church, public school system, local businesses, grocery stores, department stores, banks, credit unions, pharmaceutical companies, national brands and companies such as Tylenol, Pepsi-Cola, Kellogg's, Wal-Marts, K-Marts, etc. Check also with local civic groups and professional organizations. Scholarships are out there, you just have to take the time to look for them and then apply!

Software Providers Education Scholarship

Organization: Software Providers
Deadline: January 15th, April 15th, July 15th, October 15th 2015
Award: $1,000
Eligibility Requirements:
(1) Student who graduated high school between August 1, 2013-June 1, 2014, who will be enrolled as a freshman at a two-year or four-year college or university during fall 2014
(2) a student enrolled during the 2013-2014 academic year and in good academic standing at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university who will continue such full-time enrollment throughout the entire 2014-2015 academic year.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must have an interest in helping others.
  • Have a passion for participating and improving the practice of law and dispute resolution.
  • Highly motivated and self-motivated.

The Bottaro Law Firm's "Don't Text & Drive' Scholarship

Organization: Bottaro Law Firm LLC
Deadline: May 1, 2014 Amount: $1,000
Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be enrolled at a college or university and planning to attend in the fall of 2015.
  • Write an essay of at least 200 words stating how the scholarship can benefit you and your educational plans.
  • Agree not to text and drive – this should be included in the essay.
  • Include your full name, address, email, phone, and evidence demonstrating you meet the qualifications.

Boston Immigration Law Scholarship

Organization: Immigration Lawyers

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Submit a completed application
  • Be either a U.S.-born student whose parents are both from another country, or a foreign-born student who immigrated to the United States
  • Currently enrolled in post-high school institution or graduate school
  • Submit an original 450-word essay detailing why you or your parents immigrated to the United States and the challenges you or your family have had to overcome as a result Scholarships

2015 Legal Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship

Organization: Paralegal 411
Deadline: May 1, 2015
Amount: $500
Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate paralegal-related degree program or certificate program at an accredited college or university or be a high school student who has been accepted to a college and plans to study a legal-related major. Students in a paralegal certificate program at an accredited college are also eligible.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0.
  • The winning applicant must provide a profile photo, a brief biography, and responses to a brief text interview to be displayed on the website

Dickson Law Group Scholarship

Organization: Thomas L. Dickson $1,000 College Scholarship
Deadline: May 15th, 2015
Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college in the US or are planning to matriculate in the fall of 2015.
  • Must be in good academic standing if currently enrolled in college or high school
  • If an applicant is under 18, the permission of a parent or guardian
  • Submission of the video essay by 5/15/15.

B.Davis Scholarship

Accident Survivor Scholarship

Organization: Zehl and Associates

Amount: $1,000
Eligibility Requirements: This scholarship will be awarded to a student at an accredited university who either personally was the victim of or has a family member (brother, sister, mother or father) who was the victim of a major accident. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and 18 years or older. To be eligible, candidates must submit a 1-3 page essay describing the impact that the accident had on them (or their family member), what they have done to overcome the effects (physical and/or financial) of the accident, and what they believe could or should be done to prevent a similar accident from occurring again in the future. Candidates must be full time students and have a current GPA of at least a 3.0.

Mary Blackwell Barnes Memorial Scholarship

Organization: Women in Public Finance
Deadline: May 31, 2015
Amount:  Amount ranges from $1,000-$5,000
Eligibility Requirements:  1) Be a female student returning to a  Virginia or District of Columbia college or university in the fall of 2015. 2) Exhibit leadership skills through extracurricular activities, volunteer positions, and/ or work experiences; 3) Have an interest in pursing a career in finance, government, nonprofits, or public law; and 4) Complete and submit the application and required essay.

Van Sant's Veterans' Educational Scholarship Program

Eligibility Requirements: -Applicant must be a veteran of the US Armed Forces with an Honorable Discharge. -A copy of your military record (DD Form 214). -A copy of your student ID or other proof of college enrolment. -A 500-word essay outlining your experience in the military and your educational goals.

Internet and Education Scholarship Organization: AT&T

Deadline: June 17, 2015
Amount: $1,000
Eligibility Requirements: Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident of the United States.

  • Incoming freshman: Applicant must be a current student and have a cumulative high school grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4-point scale and must have taken either the ACT or SAT test. Applicant must also be a high school or home school senior graduating or earning a GED between August 1, 2014 and July 31, 2015 and will be attending an accredited college or university by Fall semester 2015.
  • Current freshman, sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students: Applicant must have a cumulative college grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4-point scale, and be enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university between August 1, 2014 and July 31, 2015.
