Finding information on the Internet
Dot.what list:
- .edu = educational institutions
- .com = commercial entity
- .gov = government agency or department
- .org = non-profit organization
- .net = network provider
Finding a useful web site is trickier than just finding web sites. Try using specific concepts or search 2 or 3 keywords of a topic.
Some other internet searching suggestions:
- Use search features such as Google Advanced Search where you can search for an exact phrase, Google Images where you can find pictures of your topic, or Yahoo Finance to find information on a specific company or financial issue.
- Limit your search to certain domains, such as only .com or only .org websites. (This option is available in Google Advanced Search.)
- Use the ‘Help’ sections such as Google Help Center or Yahoo Advanced Web Search.
