The most effective way to identify and access articles for college assignments is to search for articles using the library’s online databases.
Databases are lists of articles in journals, magazines and newspapers. Students can search these databases in the library, in dorms, computer labs and anywhere there is internet access. Some library databases are called general or multi-disciplinary because they contain articles from many types of magazines and journals; Academic Search Elite is an example of this kind of library database. Some library databases cover one subject such as ACS (American Chemical Society) or Historical Abstracts.

The information that you need determines which library database you should search. The library webpage lists all of the article databases the library has along with a brief description of each. You can either search for databases by subject, search a specific database or select one of the most frequently used databases listed in the right hand column.
