Meet our Chaplain

Virginia Wesleyan welcomes new Chaplain

The Office of the President at Virginia Wesleyan College has announced the selection of the Reverend Florence F. Brooks as the new College Chaplain.

“I am thrilled about Florence’s arrival,” said President Billy Greer. “She brings a great deal of energy to this position, and she understands a liberal arts college, since she is a graduate of one. I look forward to having her as a colleague, and I believe that our students are in for a treat.”

Brooks earned her Master’s of Divinity at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C., and her Bachelor of Arts from Randolph-Macon Women’s College.

“I am delighted to serve as Chaplain for Virginia Wesleyan College,” said Brooks. “I have already experienced the enthusiasm and energy that make this College special. I look forward to connecting with the community and providing Virginia Wesleyan students, faculty and staff spiritual life opportunities.”

Brooks is married to Burt, Senior Pastor at Baylake United Methodist Church. They have four children, Ben, Clay, Sam and Kelli.

The Virginia Wesleyan College Chaplain offers chapel services, special religious services, pastoral care and counseling and religious programming. The Chaplain’s office is located in the Jane P. Batten Student Center, room 028 and can be contacted at 757.455.3400 or by e-mail at fbrooks@vwc.edu.
