Changes to the Housing Process for 2015-2016
There are some important changes on the horizon for the housing process for returning students in 2015-2016. An initial communication about these changes was sent to all current students via email before winter break in December. Students should expect further communications about this new process as spring semester gets underway.
As in the past, the VWC Residence Life Office will host its annual housing lottery to assign on-campus spaces to returning students in late April through early May 2015. All freshman and sophomore residential students will have the opportunity to live on-campus in one of our four villages. And, as space allows, upperclassmen may secure housing on-campus as well.
In addition, there will be a limited number of suites at the Comfort Inn and Suites (5808 Burton Station Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23455) that will be available for junior and senior students. This housing option, known as the "Northampton Community," is for double occupancy, with a semi-private bathroom, and a 10-meal plan with five additional hot breakfasts served at the Inn. Additional amenities there include free high-speed Internet, fitness center and pool access, and use of reserved meeting spaces. To reserve space in the Northampton Community housing option for 2015-16, interested juniors and seniors need to inform our residence life staff beginning in January 2015 through April 30, 2015.
Finally, junior and senior students will have the opportunity to formally declare their intent to reside off campus for the 2015-2016 academic year, should they wish to do so. Students who choose this option need to complete the requisite paperwork in the Residence Life Office in Village II between January 12, 2015, and April 30, 2015.
For more information about these options for student housing for 2015-2016, please contact staff in the Residence Life Office at 757.455.3295 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
