AVID Tutoring Information Session

An information and application workshop will be held for VWC students interested in applying for an Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) tutoring position with Virginia Beach City Public Schools on Thursday, September 4 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in Clarke 125. This is a great paid, part-time employment opportunity for education majors and other juniors or seniors who love to work with middle and high school students. Out of the Darkness Suicide Awareness and Prevention Walk
8 a.m. - 11 a.m.
The VWC Women’s Lacrosse Team and the Office of Counseling Services invite you to help bring suicide and depression into the light at the Ninth Annual Out of the Darkness Community Walk on Saturday, September 6 from 8-11 a.m. at Mount Trashmore (310 Edwin Dr., Virginia Beach). Out of the Darkness Community Walks are three to five mile walks that take place in hundreds of communities across the country each year. Proceeds benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. To sign up, click the "More" link below and select "Team Walker," then "Join A Team." Sign up under "VWC Family." Kappa Alpha Order will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday, September 10 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the CMAC inside the Jane P. Batten Student Center. Sign up to donate blood online at www.redcrossblood.org; scheduled blood donors will complete the donation process in about an hour. Walk-ins are welcome as space is available. Volunteers are needed at registration and at the canteen on the day of the drive. Volunteers may sign up in the Office of Community Service for one-hour shifts during the drive.
