About Career Services

The Mission of the Career Services Center is to engage and assist Virginia Wesleyan students and graduates in developing meaningful career plans and learning effective job search skills.

Counseling and training are provided to--

  • help you identify your personal strengths and interests
  • explore and gain first-hand exposure to career fields
  • develop the ability and confidence to market yourself in a job search
  • participate in opportunities for positively presenting your qualifications to employers

Bio

Leslie has been employed at the College since 1985. She is originally from Portland, Oregon. Her husband Garland, her son Scott, and her daughter Christine are all alumni of Virginia Wesleyan. Her favorite hobbies are gardening, music, and genealogical research. Among her varied duties, Leslie serves as editor of the Career Services bi-weekly newsletter, Instant.Messenger and coordinates event publicity.  She serves as administrative assistant to the humanities division chair and faculty.  She helps coordinate the annual PORTfolio Program Externship Luncheon and assists with logistics on various outings.  Additionally, she assists the College Marshal in preparing for the commencement rehearsal and the selection of student marshals.
