Sustainability

Sustainability- meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

“We have a responsibility to sustain, if not enhance, our natural environment and our nation’s economy for future generations.”
.

Fact of the week:

4,000 years is the amount of time it takes a glass bottle to decompose in a landfill.

Letter from Director of Sustainability and Energy

Hello Marlins,
Thanks for taking the time to visit this website. I hope that this page will provide you with as much information as possible in terms of sustainability, energy usage, and other environmental issues. Sustainability is something that we take very seriously here on campus. From our campus recycling program to the trayless dining program within Dining services, Virginia Wesleyan College is making strides to become a "green" campus. The "green" movement has been in effect for years and it started with the student body. I believe that the "green" movement can not go on unless we have every student, faculty, and staff member of the campus community participate in sustainable practices. If you want to know how to help the campus become green, click on the "Get Green" page to learn more information. I'm excited to be a part of such a great institution and I'm anxious to see us Marlins Go Green!

Sincerely,

Kerry D. Brackett
