The President’s Environmental Issues Council (PEIC) is divided into four main Task Groups (Executive Committee, Buildings and Grounds, Community Awareness and Promotions and Environmental Audits and Practices) that meet throughout the year to work in more concentrated areas.
Executive Committee
Membership of the Executive Committee is made up of the chairman of the PEIC and the conveners of the three remaining Task Groups. The Executive Committee meets in August, December and May to discuss special areas of interest to come before the entire Council. The committee also oversees strategic planning, budgeting and staffing issues for the PEIC, and provides decision-making between meetings of the full Council.

Buildings and Grounds
The Buildings and Grounds task group evaluates current policies and practices in the areas of new construction, renovation, maintenance and landscaping on campus.This group researches and evaluates procedures to reduce and eliminate, wherever possible, environmental harm in the mentioned areas.

Community Awareness and Promotions
The Community Awareness and Promotions task group is responsible for creating awareness about the PEIC and its activities on campus and throughout the the broader community. This task group also seeks to engage members of the campus community in green practices by promoting opportunities to get involved.

Environmental Audits and Practices
The Environmental Audits and Practices task group evaluates current environmental practices and procedures on campus by collecting data and exploring energy usage. This task group seeks to improve practices ad procedures that help the environment, and works to eliminate those practices that harm it.
