May 14, 2009: Virginia Wesleyan Inducts 13 New Rho Phi Lambda Members

Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Va. –Virginia Wesleyan College's chapter of Rho Phi Lambda, the national honorary fraternity for the parks, recreation and leisure services profession, inducted 13 new students on Tuesday, May 5.
Rho Phi Lambda was formed in 1985 when Florida State University and North Carolina State University merged their respective honoraries for parks, recreation and leisure services. Virginia Wesleyan's chapter (Alpha Delta) was founded in 1996. Since that time, the College has inducted a total of 96 members.
The purpose of the organization is to recognize superior recreation/parks/leisure major students; to encourage the development of professional standards for the leisure field; to stimulate the personal development of individual members professional growth in the leisure field; to cultivate, foster and promote a sentiment of amity among students of the leisure profession; and to recognize those persons who have made outstanding contributions to the field of recreation/parks/leisure.
New members inducted included: Susana Berenato '11 from Hammonton, N.J.; Brieanne Bergin '10 from Chesapeake, Va.; Bonnie Braziel '11 from Chesapeake, Va.; Jennifer Colwell '10 from Northfield, Minn.; Suzanne Diesel '11 from Durham, N.C.; Nicole Duncan '09 from Longmeadow, Mass.; Angela Gellert '11 from Norfolk, Va.; Rebecca Leedom '10 from Virginia Beach, Va.; Sarah Parks '10 from Ft. Leavenworth, Kan.; Ashleigh Roberson '11 from Fredericksburg, Va.; Lauren Truelove '09 from Sugar Land, Texas; Rebecca Vonada '11 from Alexandria, Va.; and Marissa Wood '11 from Chesapeake, Va.
