May 12, 2009: History Honor Society Welcomes New Students

Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Va. – Virginia Wesleyan College inducted eleven new members into Phi Alpha Theta, the national honor society in history, on Saturday, May 2.
Phi Alpha Theta serves to recognize outstanding academic achievement in the field of history, and to promote an appreciation of history among students. The society sponsors field trips and movie nights throughout the year, and presents papers at the annual regional conference. To become a member of Phi Alpha Theta, students must complete four courses in history, must have a minimum of 3.0 overall GPA, and maintain a minimal 3.0 GPA in history courses.
New members inducted were Caitlin Donlan '10 from Plymouth, Mass.; Rebecca Driscoll '11 from Williamsburg, Va.; Chavon Freeman '11 from Virginia Beach, Va.; Alan Gurdal '11 from Forest, Va.; Odessa Knipp '10 from Virginia Beach, Va.; Meagan Jones '10 from Virginia Beach, Va.; John Maravich '11 from Virginia Beach, Va.; Chelsea Panissidi '10 from Franklin, Va.; Amanda Sampson '10 from Virginia Beach, Va.; Jay Sawyer '09 from Virginia Beach, Va.; and Bill Schisel '09 from Norfolk, Va.
