Mar 9, 2009: Future Marlins: Graduate In Four Years...We Guarantee It!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Va. – Virginia Wesleyan College announces its Four-Year Graduation Guarantee for all incoming freshmen students. The Guarantee allows students to save time and money by staying on schedule to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in four years.
The Four-Year Graduation Guarantee states that Virginia Wesleyan College promises to offer all the courses that students are required to take in order to complete a bachelor's degree in four years. If a student is unable to complete his or her major program in four years because the College has failed to fulfill this promise, the remaining required course work will be made available to the student by the College tuition-free.
As part of the Guarantee, Virginia Wesleyan will provide quality academic advising in choosing and declaring a major; provide access to all classes necessary for you to obtain a bachelor’s degree in four years for your declared major; and provide any required courses for that major needed beyond four years at no additional cost. Students also will receive one-on-one financial aid counseling.
All students, in any of the 38 academic majors, are eligible to participate in the Four-Year Graduation Guarantee. Students must sign an agreement before or during the fall semester of their freshman year to be eligible for this guarantee.
To be eligible for the benefits under the Four-Year Graduation Guarantee, students must:
- apply for coverage under the Guarantee during the fall semester of their freshman year;
- be academically eligible to enroll in the courses required for their declared major at the time and in the sequence that must be followed in order to complete the major in four years;
- officially declare their intended academic major before beginning the fall semester of their junior year;
- each semester, consult with their academic adviser about which required courses they must take during the next term and enroll for those courses during the early registration period;
- remain continuously matriculated as a full-time student in good standing with the College for eight consecutive semesters, not including summer sessions;
- successfully complete an average of 15 new academic credits each semester; and
- fulfill all of the procedural obligations and meet all of the academic standards that are described in the Academic Catalog as requirements for completing the declared major and for earning a bachelor's degree at Virginia Wesleyan College.
