Bruce Goodson ’79 married Kathryn Penoyer on July 7 in the Bruton Parish Church, Williamsburg. The couple resides in Williamsburg, Va.

Jaimie Reese ’96 married Howard Peterson on June 30, 2007 at the Fort Belvoir Chapel. The couple resides in Alexandria, Va., but will be living in Germany where Howard is stationed with the Air Force. Susan Fussell ’96 was the maid of honor, Lynda (Harlow) Schuchert ’96 was the mistress of ceremonies and James Reese ’00 was a groomsman.

Elizabeth Wallace ’97 married Mark Johnson on June 30, 2007. The couple resides in Chesapeake, Va. She is a learning disabilities teacher in Chesapeake, Va., and received her master’s degree in special education from Regent University.

*Joseph Harris ’94 accepted a position as senior vice president at Resource Mortgage in Virginia Beach, Va. Joseph was previously employed as a regional vice president for Countrywide Mortgage.

Lori (Simpers) McCarel ’94 is the director of annual giving at Virginia Wesleyan College. She resides in Suffolk, Va., with her husband Eric McCarel ’93 and three children, Zachary, 11, Kylea, 9, and Connor, 2.

Jacquelyn Cordery Boswell ’95 is a high school basketball coach in Baltimore, Md. She was named the Baltimore Sun Coach of the Year for the second straight year and traveled to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., to coach the USA National team at the 17u Youth Festival.

Daniel Dressing ’95 is a sergeant within the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center in Seneca County, N.Y.

Jeremy Blake ’96 is the head varsity girls’ and boys’ soccer coach at Union Pines High School in Cameron, N.C.

Pamela (Pappas) Genske ’96 is a human resource manager for solutions and development for Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Rhode Island.

Jeanette Alder ’97 earned a J.D. from Pepperdine University Law School, Calif., in 2001. She is a lawyer in Pennsylvania, concentrating her practice in commercial litigation and labor and employment law.

Jason Scalese ’97 served as area coordinator in California for Fred Thomson 2008 - FredHeadsUSA located in San Mateo, Calif.

Chad Longe ’99 teaches special education and coaches the boys’ baseball team at North Gwinnett High School in Suwannee, Ga. He is pursuing his master’s degree in special education and resides in Sugar Hill, Ga., with his wife, Colleen, and two children, Luis, 6, and Juliette, 2.

Patrick Lynn ’99 accepted a position as the customer success manager for DreamFactory Software Inc. in Atlanta, Ga. He resides in Atlanta, Ga., with his wife, Kolbi Cumbo-Lynn.

Linda (Ross) Pugel ’00 is a reporter for the Old Bridge Observer in Lake Ridge, Va. She resides in Woodbridge, Va., with her husband James.

Michelle (Superczynski) Hurst ’01 accepted a position as information analyst for Electronic Data Systems in Chesapeake, Va. She was previously the human resource administrator for the company.

Jacob Plett ’01 is the director of the mental retardation department at Lenape Valley Foundation in Doylestown, Pa.

Teresa Alutto ’02 is a litigation associate in Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom’s Washington office.

Moray Cucchiari ’02 is in the master of social work program at Simmons College in Boston, Mass.

*Martine Green ’02 is working on her dissertation at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is working on several shows in different theatre companies across the country including the Madison Repertory Theatre and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

Mandy (Bryant) Schuchhardt ’02 accepted a position as a special education teacher of students with emotional disturbance at Oscar F. Smith High School in Cheseapeake, Va. She is also pursuing a master of science degree in special education at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va.

Rex Hamaker ’04 accepted a position as an English instructor at the University Preparatory Program of Al Faisal University located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He received a master’s degree in applied linguistics from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va.

Meg Puckett ’04 is an educator at the Museum of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City, N.C.

*Beverli Dewberry ’05 accepted a position at The Library Director’s Office located in Virginia Beach, Va. She received a master of arts in criminal justice from Norfolk State University in May 2007.

Katherine Ray ’05 is an accounting manager at Door & Glass Services located in Virginia Beach, Va.

Laura Chapman ’06 graduated top of her class and received a meritorious promotion to Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. She is stationed in Cherry Point, N.C.

Phillip Craddock ’06 accepted a position as general manager for Calvin Klein in Williamsburg, Va.

Richard Pulley ’06 accepted a position as a financial services representative at SunTrust Bank in Norfolk, Va.

Mark Banks ’07 is a police officer with the Virginia Beach Police Department. He is assigned to the 3rd precinct.

Matthew Lewis ’07 is the youth sports and fitness director at the Great Bridge/Hickory Family YMCA in Chesapeake, Va.

Heidi Watkins ’07 is a shelter coordinator for Portsmouth’s summer shelter for the homeless in Portsmouth, Va.

In Memoriam

David Newby ’71 passed away in September in his home in Chesapeake, Va., after a 13-month struggle with cancer. A social science major, he was second in command at the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office. He was 58.

Elaine (Kaylor) Cline ’78 passed away in November. A history major, she enjoyed many years of “Grey Lady” or “Pink Lady” volunteer work at various Navy and civilian hospitals and clinics, as well as work as a docent at the Lynnhaven House in Virginia Beach, Va. She was 86.

Richard Todd Mohr ’96 (non-alumnus) passed away in September. He attended Virginia Wesleyan and in 2000, he moved to Berlin, where he established Bottoms Up Boat Lift Co. and in 2007, Atlantic Marine Construction. He was 33.
