Every year, Virginia Wesleyan College offers prospective students the opportunity to check out the campus and meet faculty, staff and students through a special VWC Day open house.
Offered three times each year in the fall, winter and spring, VWC Days include tours of the campus led by student ambassadors and a department fair where students can meet faculty members from majors in which they are interested. In addition, representatives will be available to answer questions about financial aid, admissions, student activities, residence life and more. There are also special panels with information for parents and students to attend.

"VWC Day is a great way for prospective students to connect with our students," said Tanya Williams, senior associate director of admissions. "When prospective students actually set foot on our campus, they get a sense of community that we have at Virginia Wesleyan and often make friends."
A student who visits the College during a VWC Day has access to everything from one-on-one time with faculty members to meetings with financial aid representatives. Another important aspect to VWC Day is that students have the opportunity to interact with current Virginia Wesleyan students.
"On VWC Day, there's a really encouraging environment between other families and students. People joke around and get comfortable with the students already on the campus." - Kat Burchett"I've given a lot of individual family tours, and it's typical to have a family that's nervous, or unsure of what to ask," said Kat Burchett '09 from Virginia Beach, Va. "On VWC Day, there's a really encouraging environment between other families and students. People joke around and get comfortable with the students already on the campus."
Lamanda Beale '10, a transfer student from Chesapeake, Va., came to Virginia Wesleyan after attending a VWC Day.
"When I attended VWC Day, I loved the comfortable environment that was created for the students," said Beale. "I enjoyed the lunch and the chance to ask any questions to various departmental representatives. Everyone gave me and my family complete answers in confidence."
Both Williams and Burchett encourage students attending VWC Day to ask their tour guides and current students about the college experience at Virginia Wesleyan.
"At Virginia Wesleyan, we embrace all of our students and we are a diverse campus that accepts students from a variety of ethnicities and faiths," said Williams. "Ask any of our students, and they'll tell you what it's like to be apart of the Virginia Wesleyan family."
Additional VWC Days are offered throughout the year including Saturday, Jan. 31 and Saturday, April 4. The Jan. 21 VWC Day is specially designed for high school athletes interested in competing at the Division III level and the April 4 VWC Day is specially designed for rising high school sophomores, juniors and prospective transfer students; however, all prospective students are encouraged to attend any of these days.
