The spring semester is quickly approaching, but there is still time for students to apply for admission to Virginia Wesleyan College. Whether interested in Virginia Wesleyan's day program or night and evening classes with the Adult Studies Program, students can still apply for classes that begin Thursday, Jan. 25.
The Admissions Office will be accepting applications for day students, including both freshmen and transfer students, on a rolling basis. Interested freshman students should complete an application and have copies of their official high school transcripts and official SAT or ACT scores. Transfer students should also fill out an application and submit either their official or unofficial transcripts. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted to make an admission decision; however, official transcripts will be needed. Applications can also be submitted online. To apply online, click here.
Financial aid is also still available for the spring semester. As a spring applicant, students should complete the 2006-07 Free Application for Federal Student Aid which can be found at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Students who apply and are admitted to Virginia Wesleyan are immediately considered for institutional grant and scholarship.
Students can contact the Admissions Office at any time to arrange a campus tour or overnight stay. Admissions tours are offered Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. and Saturdays at 11 a.m. (excluding holiday weekends).
Students interested in Virginia Wesleyan, but not yet ready to apply, are encouraged to attend VWC Day on Saturday, Jan. 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. VWC Day, held three times each year, enables students and their families to visit campus, meet faculty and ask questions about financial aid, admissions, extracurricular activities, residence life and more. For more information about VWC Day or to register online, click here.
For more information about applying to Virginia Wesleyan College, contact the Admissions Office at 800.737.8684, 757.455.3208 or admissions@vwc.edu.
The Adult Studies Program at Virginia Wesleyan will also be accepting applications for the spring semester.
The Adult Studies Program is a way for adults to receive a bachelor's degree, participate in non-degree courses for self-improvement or receive their teacher certification through the Alternative Certification for Teaching (ACT) Program.
By enrolling in the Adult Studies Program, adult students receive an Adult Incentive Grant, which lowers the tuition rate by about two-thirds compared to the day program. Additionally, the program offers an audit opportunity for adults who want to take a course for personal enrichment. A lower tuition is applied for students participating in the audit opportunity.
The Adult Studies Program at Virginia Wesleyan will host its next "Going to College" program at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11 in Clarke Hall. During this event, interested students will receive information about the program and have the opportunity to have questions about the program answered. Call 757.455.3263 or e-mail asp@vwc.edu to make a reservation or to learn more about the Adult Studies Program.
