It's not too late to apply for the Fall 2006 semester

The Fall 2006 semester is quickly approaching, but there is still time for students to apply for admission to Virginia Wesleyan College.  Whether interested in Virginia Wesleyan’s Day Program or night and evening classes with the Adult Studies Program, applications are still being accepted for classes beginning Monday, Aug. 28, 2006.

The Admissions Office will be accepting applications for day students, including both freshmen and transfer students on a rolling basis until Friday, Sept. 1.  However, for us to best accommodate scheduling, financial aid and potential housing needs, we encourage prospective fall applicants to submit all materials by Monday, Aug. 21.  Interested freshman students should complete an application and have copies of their official high school transcripts and official SAT or ACT scores.  Transfer students should also fill out an application and submit either their official or unofficial transcripts.  Unofficial transcripts will be accepted to make an admission decision; however, official transcripts will be needed.  Applications can also be submitted online.  To apply online, visit www.vwc.edu/admissions/apply.php.

To learn more about Wesleyan’s Day Program, contact the admissions office at 757.455.3208 or 800.737.8684 or admissions@vwc.edu

The Adult Studies Program at Virginia Wesleyan will also accept applications until Monday, Aug. 21.  The Adult Studies office will accept unofficial transcripts for an admission decision; however, official transcripts will be needed.

Applications for the 2007 Winter Session and Spring 2007 semester will also be accepted beginning on Monday, Aug. 21, 2006.

The Adult Studies Program is a way for adults to receive a bachelor’s degree, participate in non-degree courses for self-improvement or receive their teacher certification through the Alternative Certification for Teaching (ACT) Program.

By enrolling in the Adult Studies Program, adult students receive an Adult Incentive Grant, which lowers the tuition rate by about two-thirds compared to the Day Program.  Additionally, the program offers an audit opportunity for adults who want to take a course for personal enrichment.  A lower tuition is applied for students participating in the audit opportunity.

Adult Studies students can also gain college credit from previous work-life experiences by participating in the College Level Examination Program (CLEP), or presenting a documentation portfolio to be accessed for credits.  Previous military training can also be accessed for college credit.

For more information about enrolling in the Adult Studies Program, contact the Adult Studies office at 757.455.3263 or asp@vwc.edu.
