Friday, October 6

Homecoming Parade

1:30 p.m., Batten Lawn
If you love DooDah parades, then this one’s for you! Campus organizations, athletic teams and other groups will battle it out for prizes and bragging rights.

Oktoberfest Dinner

5:30-7 p.m., Boyd Dining Center
Sponsored by the German Honor Society. Join us for a special dinner by reservation for students, parents, family members and alumni. Experience a traditional German meal with spaetzel, braised red cabbage, hot German potato salad, Brussel sprouts, knockwurst with sauerkraut, sauerbraten, apple strudel, German chocolate cake and a selection of German beers. Enjoy festive music, singing and dancing. Oktoberfest dinner price for parents, alumni and guests is $9.95 per person, $5.75 for students without a meal card and no additional charge for students with a meal card. Oktoberfest social to follow from 7-10 p.m., Marlin Grille, Jane P. Batten Student Center

VWC Concert Series: In -A

7:30 p.m., Hofheimer Theatre
The VWC Concert Series presents pianist Lee Jordan-Anders, Batten Professor of Music and Artist-In-Residence, in a concert of works by Scarlatti, Mozart, Schubert, Brahms and Debussy, all with “A” as their tonal center. Cost is $5 for parents, alumni, seniors, students and military and free for the Virginia Wesleyan community.

Breakfast with President Greer

8-9:30 a.m., Boyd Dining Center
Enjoy a full breakfast, learn about the Phi Beta Kappa vision for the College and visit with President Greer all at the same time! Breakfast price for parents, alumni, guests and students without a meal card is $5.25 and no additional charge for students with a meal card.

Classes Without Quizzes

10-11:30 a.m., Registration at Jane P. Batten Student Center Hub
Experience (or re-experience) college life by attending a 30-minute presentation featuring Virginia Wesleyan’s creative faculty doing what they do best…teaching. FREE and open to all.

Faculty Reception and Department Fair

10:30-11:30 a.m., Jane P. Batten Student Center Convocation Hall
At this informal gathering, parents have the opportunity to become acquainted with the Virginia Wesleyan faculty to learn more about their fields and the classes they teach. Faculty, for your convenience, will be grouped alphabetically by department in the Convocation Hall. Additionally, many of the staff will also be on hand to greet you and to answer your questions. Alumni are invited to come and reconnect with their favorite professors and staff.

Spirit Muster

Homecoming Tailgate 12-4:30 p.m.,Trinder Center Lawn
Sponsored by the Alumni Association. Get “decked” out in your best Virginia Wesleyan gear and cruise out to Trinder Lawn to eat lunch and mingle with alumni, family and friends. Catch the spirit with food, music by a DJ and drinks. There will be games and activities for young and old, plus gathering areas for various groups including the Classes of ’90-’93, Greeks, parents, former RAs, former SGA members and more!

Picnic lunch from 12-3 p.m. is $7.50 for parents, alumni, guests and students without a meal card and no additional charge for students with a meal card. Drop anchor by the Alumni Association’s Beverage Tent for an ice-cold beverage or two! Must be 21 or older to purchase alcoholic beverages.

Captain’s Ball Homecoming Dance

9 p.m.-1 a.m., Norfolk Waterside Marriott
Sponsored by the Weslyan Activities Council. All hands on deck for the Captain’s Ball. Come dressed to impress and see who will be crowned Homecoming King and Queen. Alumni are invited. Cost is $15 per person (reservations requested).

Sunday, October 8

Sunday Brunch

10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Boyd Dining Center
Following the morning worship services, plan to join us for a relaxing brunch. The cost for parents, guests and students without a meal card is $5.25 per person. Reservations are requested. Please pay at the door.
