Going to College with the Adult Studies Program
Do you know an adult who has expressed an interest in going to college? Virginia Wesleyan's Adult Studies program is holding an informational session on Thursday, May 7 at 6 p.m. in Clarke Hall. Topics such as degree programs offered, tips for success, learning support available for non-traditional students, credit transfers, guaranteed admission for Virginia community college students, employer tuition deferral programs, financial aid options and how to enroll will be covered. Arthur Gitjan '73

Arthur Gitajn '73

Arthur Gitajn '73 is Chief Financial Officer of SAP Canada, the Canadian subsidiary of the world's leading provider of business software. After College, Arthur taught English for eight years, served as senior manager of the Government Finance Research Center in Washington, D.C., for three years, and then as assistant city manager and director of financial and IT services for the City of Alexandria, Va., for thirteen years. Before joining SAP in 2007, Arthur served as CFO of publicly-listed software companies in the U.S., Canada and Sweden. 

He earned an M.A. in American Studies from the University of Maryland and an M.S. in Accounting from Georgetown University, where he received the Graduate Award for Academic Excellence. In 1985, Arthur received the Elijah Watt Sells award for scoring in the top two-tenths of one percent nationwide on the CPA examination. In 1989, Virginia Wesleyan honored Arthur with the Distinguished Alumnus Award. Arthur and his wife, Susan, have four children, Rob Higgins, Leah, Erin and Rachel Gitajn.

Join us for the annual Seafood Party in the Dell at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 17, featuring a performance by Natalie Stovall. Calling all Phi Sig Alumni! Virginia Wesleyan's chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma is hosting an Alumni Picnic on the Batten Lawn from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 18. Join your fellow Phi Sigs for food, fun, fellowship and build new relationships. This event is free; however, reservations are requested by no later than Sunday, April 12. Class Notes

Cassandra (Matthews) McDade (2004) and Dustin McDade are happy to announce their marriage on March 1, in Las Vegas, NV. They currently reside in Virginia Beach, VA. At the ceremony, Elvis presided while close friends of couple watched.

Kelli Davis (2005) and Brandon Beigay are happy to announce their marriage on December 31, 2008 at Central Baptist Church in Downtown Norfolk, VA. The wedding had a 1950s-era Hollywood theme.

Crystal (Walker) Gosselin (1999) and Michael Gosselin are proud to announce the birth of a baby girl, Kylee Elizabeth Ann. She was born on November 27, 2008 in Houston, TX, and weighed 2 lb., 4 oz.. Kylee was 11 weeks premature, but is doing well and is up to 7 lbs and getting bigger everyday! I can't wait for all my VWC family to meet her someday.

David Billings (1987) announced in January his candidacy for Forks Township Supervisor (Pennsylvania) as a Republican in the May 2009 primary. He currently serves on the township planning commission and the township comprehensive plan committee. He has also helped craft the Easton Area School District's redistricting plan, which will shuffle more than 400 elementary school students next year, as well as proposals for capital improvement.

Nicole (Sanzi) Turner (2005) and Geoffrey Turner are proud to announce the birth of a baby boy, Christian Geoffrey. He was born on December 24, 2008 in Modesto, CA, and weighed 7 lb., 1 oz.. Baby Chris joins proud big sister, Samantha who is 3 1/2 yrs old!
