Virginia Wesleyan develops National Board Certification support program for teachers
Virginia Wesleyan College, in partnership with the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) and the Southeast Virginia National Board Certified Teacher Regional Network (SEVA), has developed the VWC National Board Certification Support Program. The program supports NBCT candidates in Region II, and is coordinated through Virginia Wesleyan's Adult Studies Program. Majors and Academic Resource Fair

New Web site helps students transition from high school to college
Students looking to find their collegiate fit, and see if Virginia Wesleyan College is the place for them, now have a new online resource.
Launched by the United States Department of Education, www.college.gov offers relevant, comprehensive information on a variety of topics, such as how to choose a college, how to go through the application process and how to acquire financial aid.

V'Anne Tugbang '93
V'Anne Tugbang '93 of Alexandria, Va., is the Contracts Administrator for the Office of the Clerk. V'Anne's main responsibility is to handle all contracts related to the Office of the Clerk. She is responsible for conducting searches, issuing, awarding and administering contracts. The Office of the Clerk keeps all of the records and reports for Congress, maintains the official library of the House, is in charge of the Page Program and is responsible for all the legislative duties of the House. V'Anne has been with the Clerk of the House for seven years. She is a native of Chesapeake, Va., and mother of a six year-old son. V'Anne enjoys running and has participated in three Marine Corps Marathons, the largest marathons in the country.

Travel courses include Global Commerce in Mexico taught by Dr. Salek; Field Studies in Biology and Ecological Reflection in Belize taught by Drs. Maynard Shaus and Josh Weinstein; Travel Photography in New Zealand taught by Professor Swift; and Service in a Global Context in Ghana taught by Drs. Clay Drees, Lisa Carstens and Ms. Lena Johnson. Reunion 2008: A fun-filled weekend!
The Classes of '98 and '83 celebrated their 10- and 25-year reunions on Saturday, Oct 4. Alumni from all over met at the alumni tailgate to enjoy great music, friends and cheer on the Marlin men's soccer team as they defeated EMU. Couldn't make it this year? | Michele Yardumian (1983) writes, "'The Alliance', Book One of the Faeltheon is now available in paperback. Michele and her fellow authors are in the middle of production of Book Two of the Faeltheon, 'Run Before the Wind' and expect it to hit book stores in the summer of 2009.
Gayla Dalrymple-Smith (2004) are happy to announce their marriage on June 28, 2008 at The Founder's Inn, Virginia Beach, VA. They currently reside in Fort Bragg, NC. Gayla and Joe will be leaving NC and attending UVA for his Master's in which he'll be using to teach at West Point for 3 years. Gayla continues to teach 2nd grade.
Heidi (Hill) Cavallo recently accepted a position at Norfolk State University located in Norfolk, VA as Softball Assistant. Heidi recently was employed at Bayside High School as Softball Coach.
Christopher Dotolo (1991) recently accepted a position at Norfolk Academy located in Norfolk, VA as Director of Annual Giving. Christopher recently was employed at Hofstra University.
Heather (Johnston) Watson (1995) and Christopher Watson (1995) are proud to announce the birth of a baby boy, Andrew Charles. He was born on January 15, 2008 in Salem, Massachusetts, and weighed 7 lb., 11 oz.
