Annual Fund for Academic Excellence
This year, the Annual Fund for Academic Excellence provided over 200 Virginia Wesleyan students with scholarships. For many of these students, this scholarship support was a deciding factor in being able to attend Virginia Wesleyan. Lisa Van Dyke '08 said scholarship support is vital for her education.  "I would not be able to attend school here without my scholarship. It is tremendous help to my parents, and it motivates me to work hard so I can keep my scholarship." Support students and their future by making a gift online.

Barbara Wool '83

Barbara Wool '83

Barbara Wool '83 is a real estate agent serving the Hampton Roads area who is passionate about her support for Virginia Wesleyan College. She is a member of the Alumni Board and gives back to her school in another important way. For every sale she makes with anyone connected with VWC – professors, alumni, staff, recent graduates, as well as their friends and relatives – she will give 25 percent of her commission to the Alumni Scholarship program that benefits children of alumni.

This plan has worked well for the last four years and Barbara has helped many VWC alumni sell or purchase their homes. "We have fewer alumni than older established institutes of higher learning, so raising funds can sometimes be challenging," Barbara said. "I'm hoping to encourage others to come up with some creative fundraising ideas as well."

Barbara urges alumni to come to the 8th Annual Scholarship Auction and Party at the Cavalier Yacht and Country Club in April. "We need alumni to help with contributions to the auction and to come to our biggest scholarship fundraiser in April. I promise you will have fun!" Barbara said.

Contact Barbara Wool at 757.481.1241 or barbarawool@cox.net.
