  • "For this week, we Marlins are Hokies too." Virginia Wesleyan Remembers Virginia Tech. The tragic shootings at Virginia Tech on Monday, April 16 will never be forgotten. Virginia Wesleyan students, faculty and staff held a remembrance service, candlelight vigil and moment of silence.

Two alumni, George Lyle ’88 and Elizabeth Middleton ’91, will be presented with Alumni Service Awards and one alumna, Gail Derrick ’82, will be presented with the Distinguished Alumnus Award. Don't spend the day wasting away at home; come look for your lost shaker of salt with us at the “Mad Hatter” senior and young alumni party at Jillian's Waterside, Norfolk on Thursday, May 10 from 8-11:30 p.m. The Mad Hatter is sponsored by the Alumni Association and is part of the 2007 Senior Week festivities: "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes." Classes of 2003 - 2006 alumni are invited! A ticket to paradise is only $10 and includes one free drink.   • Have a full-time job but want to go back to school? No problem, Virginia Wesleyan can help. The Adult Studies Program accommodates the 9-5 workday with evening and weekend classes. There's still plenty of time to register for Summer 2007 courses.
  • Even after graduation, Virginia Wesleyan wants to help you! At the Career Services Center, students and alumni can learn about Job Fairs, recruiters on campus, seminars, career panels, workshops and more! The Instant.Messenger is published weekly throughout the semester and informs students, faculty and administrative staff about upcoming events and activities sponsored by the Career Services Center and other Hampton Roads businesses.

Check out a new service for Virginia Wesleyan graduates from Cap and Compass that allows you to access helpful advice about apartments, cars, utilities, transportation and more for 35 U.S. cities including Richmond, Washington, D.C. and Baltimore. Each city also receives a ‘GPA’ score ranking its appeal to recent college graduates. Visit the Cap and Compass Web site and enter username: vwc and password: alumni.

  • Men's Basketball - (28-5 overall; Ranked No. 2 Nationally) finished the 2007 season as the Division III NCAA National Runner-up. Senior All-American Brandon Adair finished his career at Wesleyan with a field goal percentage at 69.1% - placing him No. 1 in the nation. Adair received first team honors from the ODAC, NABC All-South and D3hoops.com All-South; and second team recognition from D3hoops.com All-America.  Preseason All-American junior TonTon Balenga received second team honors from the ODAC and third team recognition from D3hoops.com All-South.   
  • Baseball - (21-15 overall;13-5 ODAC) tied in the ODAC for the No. 1 position in regular season standings with Hampden-Sydney College. Split with Guilford College 13-3 ( VWC) and 7-4 (GC) at N.C.; defeated Lynchburg College 6-1 and 8-7 at home; defeated Randolph-Macon College 10-5 at home; split with Roanoke College 3-1 (RC) and 6-2 (VWC) at RC.
  • Softball - (11-26 overall; 7-11 ODAC) lost to Bridgewater College 2-0 and 10-1 at home; lost to Salisbury University, Md. 25-2 and 19-3 at SU; split with Eastern Mennonite University 5-4 (VWC) and 2-1 (EMU) at home; split with University of Mary Washington 2-1 (VWC) and 13-1 (UMW); split with Randolph-Macon College 3-0 (RM) and 8-4 (VWC); lost to #15 Lynchburg College 5-1 and 5-1 at LC.
  • Men's Lacrosse - (9-5 overall; 2-4 ODAC) will finish the 2007 regular season on Friday, April 27 hosting Christopher Newport University in a non-conference game at 7 p.m. at the Trinder Center. Lost to #12 Roanoke College 13-7 at RC; defeated Wesleyan College (Del.) 14-6 at home; defeated Goucher College (Md.) 13-10 at GC; defeated Guilford College 13-3 at GC; defeated Randolph-Macon College 13-6 at home.
  • Women's Lacrosse - (7-9 overall; 5-3 ODAC) will host Lynchburg College on Wednesday, April 25 in the ODAC quarterfinal game at the Trinder Center. Lost to Washington and Lee University 16-5 at W&L; defeated Hollins University 20-0 at HU; lost to Roanoke College 13-5 at RC; lost #11 University of Mary Washington 17-5 at home; lost to Christopher Newport University 15-10 at CNU.
  • Men's Tennis - (13-5 overall; 7-2 ODAC) semifinalists in the ODAC Tournament; defeated Guilford College 5-1 at home; lost to Roanoke College 6-3 at Hampden-Sydney; defeated Lynchburg College 9-0 at home; lost to Christopher Newport University 5-4 at CNU.
  • Women's Tennis -(18-1 overall; 9-1 ODAC) finished as the 2007 ODAC runner-up. Freshman Imee Bautista named ODAC Rookie of the Year. Defeated Hollins University 6-2 at HU; defeated Roanoke College 5-1 at RC; defeated Randolph-Macon Women's College 9-0 at RMWC; defeated Lynchburg College 9-0 at home.

  • Randy Peele '80 has been named the head men's basketball coach of Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C. (pictured). Peele was previously the head coach at UNC Greensboro from 1995-1999.
