John Doucette ’01 is a metro news columnist for The Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, Va. Doucette got his feet wet in journalism freelancing for the Pilot during college, then for a number of New York City publications, including the New York Post, Newsday and Parade magazine. After two years covering government full time for the Times Herald-Record serving the Hudson Valley, he returned to the Pilot in 2003. He writes a local news column three times a week.

Brian Durrett '90 and wife Anne (Walker) Durrett '91 welcomed a son, Elijah James Durrett (pictured), 8-pounds 6-ounces on March 12, 2007. The couple resides in Richmond, Va. Elijah joins big brother, Jacob, and big sister, Grace.

- Angelique Watterson 01' and her husband welcomed a son, Nathan Robert Watterson on Feb. 9, 2007.
- Kristy (Reed) Hannah '01 and her husband, Jon, welcomed a daughter, 6-pounds 10-ounce Kasen Reed Hannah, on April 1, 2007. This is their first child.
- Kristin (Taylor) Reifsnider '03 and her husband, Jonathan, welcome a son, 8-pound 21-inch Austin Michael Reifsnider (pictured), on March 2, 2007. The couple resides in Virginia Beach, Va. Austin is their first child.
- Ashley Davis ’04 married Kevin Lawrence on April 12, 2007. She also had a daughter, Cyann Amarie Davis-Lawrence on Feb. 6, 2005.

- Karen Renesis '78 is a Mortgage Loan Officer for Monarch Home Funding in Norfolk, Va.
- Bryan A. White '78 has been awarded the Paul A. Funk Recognition Award. Bryan is professor in the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Illinois Extension in Urbana, Ill.
- Gary Bonnewell '79 CFP, First Vice President – Wealth Management for Smith Barney, has been awarded a Masters of Science Degree in Financial Planning from The College of Financial Planning in Denver, Colo. The College of Financial Planning is the leading institution responsible for formalizing the practice of Financial Planning.
- Dean Iley '81 is Senior Vice President for Technology at Bank of America in Norfolk, Va. He was recently a panelist for Virginia Wesleyan's Career Services Center.
- Capt. Scott Barlow '83 will take over as Culpeper Police Chief in May 2007. Barlow was previously a captain with the Newport News Police Department.
- Barbara Sessoms '82 sky-dived from a plane on Saturday, April 22 to honor a pledge she made to her students for 100 percent PTA membership. She is the principal at Birdneck Elementary School in Virginia Beach, Va.
- George "Chip" Tstantes '83 was the guest speaker in Dr. Kathy Stolley's Social Problems Class on Friday, April 13. Chip is the Chief Technology Officer at INTERSECTIONS in Chantilly, Va. His company is the largest identity management company in the U.S. with six million customers.
- Mark Rennix '84 is the owner of Fairway Lawn Care in Beaufort, S.C. He is also the District Director for the South Carolina High School Soccer Officials Association and a high school official for baseball, softball, basketball, soccer and volleyball.
- Alan Vaughan '85, director of student services for Chesapeake Public Schools in Chesapeake, Va., is serving as interim principal at Great Bridge High School. He will take over in July.
- Tracey Dekking Mustacchio '89 has been appointed to chief marketing manager of TraceSecurity, a leading provider of on-demand security compliance management solutions. Mustacchio is responsible for overseeing all of TraceSecurity's marketing and product management functions, including go-market-strategy, public relations and lead generation. She resides in Baton Rouge, La.
- Buddy Hayes '90 was awarded Ms. Wheelchair Virginia 2007-2008. She resides in Chesapeake, Va.
- Matt Conrad '97 is an account manager with Ridgway's Ltd., in Virginia Beach, Va. He resides in Chesapeake, Va.
- Michelle A. Dragas '98 anticipates completing her master's degree in Communications Management from Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communication in the fall of 2007. Upon graduation she plans to further build her freelance business and explore adjunct teaching.
- Jonathan Conrad '03 is a financial representative with Northwestern Mutual Financial Network. He resides in Virginia Beach, Va.
- Kristin (Taylor) Reifsnider '03 a science teacher at Brandon Middle School. She and her husband, Jonathan, reside in Virginia Beach. Va.
- Julia Green '04 is a freelance writer in New York. She is working with a PR/Advertising firm and plans to attend an intensive writing workshop this summer in New York City.
- Kelli Davis '05 is a full-time reporter for the Suffolk News-Herald in Suffolk, VA. Davis covers education and healthcare. Other responsibilities include covering any breaking news and arts and entertainment in Suffolk.
- Lillian Reyes Aulds '05 is a bookkeeper with Bazon Cox and Associates in Chesapeake, Va. She resides in Virginia Beach, Va.
- Bryan Wintermantel '05 recently graduated from the State Police Academy in Richmond, Va. Wintermantel previously served seven years with the Virginia Army National Guard. He resides in Newport News, Va.
- Bonnie (Seavey) Golay '06 and her husband, David, are in the process of opening a restaurant and catering business in the Old Towne section of Portsmouth, Va. They are hoping to open late summer.
- Jessica "Jessi" West '06 is a switchboard operator at Virginia Wesleyan College.
- Megan Zirkle '06 is the assistant director of College Communications and lead writer at Virginia Wesleyan College. She resides in Chesapeake, Va. with her fiance, Tyler Shearin.
In Memoriam
- Marvin "Towny" Townsend '77 passed away on April 4, 2007 in his home. He was the dean of students for Norfolk Public Schools. Marvin was social science major at Virginia Wesleyan.
- Jacinta Hope “Sis” Buchanan '91 passed away on April 6, 2007. She was employed as an area manager for Verizon Wireless for the last 17 years. Jacinta was a theatre and political science major at Virginia Wesleyan.
