  • Marlin Transit Authority (MTA): The MTA provides local transportation runs for student doctor appointments, and to Norfolk International Airport, Norfolk Greyhound Bus Depot, etc. The Marlin Express provides transportation for students to Town Center, Military Highway and MacArthur Center in downtown Norfolk, where students have access to the Norfolk Electric Transit (NET).

  • The Alumni Association is seeking nominations for the Alumni Awards Program. Alumni can self-nominate or may be nominated by someone else for two awards: The Distinguished Alumnus Award and the Alumni Service Award.   • Are you interested in shaping the future of the Virginia Wesleyan Alumni Association? Consider applying online today to become a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors. Alumni Board members plan alumni events, promote the College and serve as advocates for alumni. Please submit an application by March 1 to be considered for the 2007-08 Board of Directors.
  • The Annual Fund for Academic Excellence student-based Phonathon resumed calling on Feb. 7. Eight students will be connecting with alumni, parents and friends throughout the semester. Please welcome their call and feel free to ask about their experience at Virginia Wesleyan. Gifts to the Annual Fund support scholarships, faculty recruitment and retention, undergraduate research and critical needs as they arise on campus.   • Lemuel E. Lewis, a director of the Federal Reserve bank of Richmond since 2005, was appointed deputy chairman of the bank's board by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. Lewis is a member of the Board of Trustees at Virginia Wesleyan.

  • Virginia Wesleyan Ranked No. 28 Nationally In Directors' Cup
  • Fear the Fish! The Virginia Wesleyan men's and women's basketball teams will be traveling to Salem, Va., for the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament to be held Thursday, Feb. 22 through Sunday, Feb. 25.Both of our Marlin teams are doing so well this year and we hope you'll join us for the tournament! Virginia Wesleyan will host receptions at the Salem Civic Center for Marlin fans for one hour prior and at half-time of each men's and women's game during the tournament. Tournament seedings and game times will be finalized on Feb. 17. Please see the ODAC Tournament Web site for the tournament schedule, directions and information about hotels and tickets. Audio webcasts and live stats will be available for the quarterfinal games and video webcasts and live stats will be available for the semifinals and finals on the ODAC Tournament Web site.

  • Larissa (Cash) McClaren '94 and her husband, James, welcomed their first child, 7-pound 9-ounce Matthew Cole McClaren, on Sept. 6, 2006.
  • Patty Ritzi '92 and her company, Premier Events, Inc., were featured in the January 29 episode of "My Super Sweet 16" on MTV. Premier Events assisted with the planning of a $300,000 party at the Granby Theater in Norfolk for Virginia Beach native Amberly Carter.
