- Virginia Wesleyan faculty members Dan Margolies and Richard Bond receive summer developmental grants: This is part one of a five-part series recognizing Virginia Wesleyan faculty members who are currently doing work with the aid of developmental grants received during the summer of 2006.
- There's still time to apply to VWC for the spring semester! Whether interested in Virginia Wesleyan's day program or night and evening classes with the Adult Studies Program, applications are still being accepted for classes beginning Thursday, Jan. 25.
- After 25 years, Deanie Hickman says goodbye to Virginia Wesleyan: Hickman, the director of financial aid, is retiring after 25 years at Virginia Wesleyan College. Hickman, who has been with the office of financial aid for all 25 years, retired from her position on Dec. 31.
- Student fellowships, scholarships and awards: As part of the newly-designed Academics section of the Virginia Wesleyan Web site, academic achievements of VWC students are showcased.

- Are you interested in shaping the future of the Virginia Wesleyan Alumni Association? Consider applying online today to become a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors. Alumni Board members plan alumni events, promote the College and serve as advocates for alumni. Please submit an application by March 1 to be considered for the 2007-08 Board of Directors.
- The Alumni Association is seeking nominations for the Alumni Awards Program. Alumni can self-nominate or may be nominated by someone else for two awards: The Distinguished Alumnus Award and the Alumni Service Award. - This year, the Annual Fund for Academic Excellence provided 217 Virginia Wesleyan students with scholarships. For many of these students, this scholarship support was a deciding factor on if they were able to attend Wesleyan. Matt Douglas-Snyder, class of 2009, wrote: "Receiving an Annually Funded Scholarship makes it possible for me to attend Virginia Wesleyan. Otherwise it would not be affordable. - Neil Forbes '00 is the campaign manager for Mississippi State Auditor Phil Bryant, who is running for Lieutenant Governor in the GOP primary. Neil is currently living in Clinton, Miss.
- Jennifer Shappell Simpson '97 and her husband, Chuck, welcomed 5-pound 14-ounce Ericka Lourdes on Christmas Day. Ericka joins big sister Emily, 4, and brother Evan, 1. The Simpson family resides in Virginia Beach, Va. Proud grandparents are Ann '70 and John '70 Shappell.
