Marriages and Births

  • Laura (Doran) Rifenberry '95 and her husband, Robert, welcomed Hannah Rifenberry5-pound 1-ounce Hannah Elizabeth (pictured) on Aug. 3.
  • Jennifer Shappell Simpson '97 and her husband, Chuck, welcomed 5-pound 14-ounce Ericka Lourdes on Christmas Day. Ericka joins big sister Emily, 4, and brother Evan, 1. The Simpson family resides in Virginia Beach, Va. Proud grandparents are Ann '70 and John '70 Shappell.
  • Aron Ward '97 and his wife, Anita, welcomed Jackson Cole Jackson Ward(pictured) on Oct. 4. He joins big brothers Donovan and Mitchell.

Personal Updates

  • Krista McDonough Vicich '95 is an administrative assistant with Vitale, Caturano & Co., Ltd. in Boston, Mass.
  • Tony Drew '98 and his son, Scott, own Tidewater Pressure Washing.  The main focus of their business is to power wash hoods of commercial stoves. They are the leading company in the area in this business, have opened an office in North Carolina and are considering an expansion into Richmond.
  • Cynthia '99 and John '99 Hellein are both employees at GEICO in Virginia Beach, Va., and have both recently been promoted. John is the regional systems supervisor and Cynthia is an investigator in the Special Investigations Unit. On Nov. 17, John and Cynthia both earned the CPCU designation (Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter) in the insurance field after four years of study.
  • Neil Forbes '00 is the campaign manager for Mississippi State Auditor Phil Bryant, who is running for Lieutenant Governor in the GOP primary. Neil is currently living in Clinton, Miss.
  • Jack D. Wheeler '00 is a math teacher with Virginia Beach City Public Schools, where he also coaches girls' volleyball, boys' JV basketball and softball at the high school level. He was named Beach District Coach of the Year in softball in 2006, and his volleyball team was Beach District Champions in 2006-07. The varsity basketball team, for which he is an assistant coach, won the Beach District Tournament in 2005-06. Jack also has his own company, Millenium Computers.
  • Tara (Cox) Campbell '06 accepted a litigation paralegal position in August with the Kaufman & Canoles law firm. Kaufman & Canoles is one of the largest law firms in Virginia with seven offices in the Tidewater and Richmond area. She resides in Virginia Beach, Va., with her husband, Ben, and 6-month-old son Aiden.

In Memoriam

  • Donald W. Davis '91 passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005 at the age of 46. A native of Virginia, Donald was a longtime Chesapeake resident and an Army veteran. Donald was a mathematics major at Virginia Wesleyan.
