  • Biology honor society donates microscopes to primary school in MicroscopesTrinidad and Tobago: Members of Beta Beta Beta raised enough funds to donate eight light microscopes and other science equipment to the Brasso Seco RC Primary School in Brasso Village, Brasso.
  • New televisions on campus promote student events and activities. In addition to information about events sponsored by RecX and WAC, the televisions also show advertisements from companies that may be of interest to students.
  • Virginia Wesleyan proudly recognizes a new class of Batten Professors, honored for their excellence in teaching and scholarship, their contributions within the community and their passion for inspiring excellence in others.
  • 2006-07 Virginia Wesleyan College Concert Series: The Virginia Wesleyan College Concert Series offers opportunities for the campus and local community to hear live performances by exceptional musicians on the Virginia Wesleyan College campus.
  • Alumni Travel Opportunities! Two Virginia Wesleyan professors are planning study abroad trips for Winter Session 2007 and have limited spaces available for interested alumni. Dr. Vic Townsend will be leading a trip Jan. 1-10 to various sites in Belize, including coral reefs and tropical rain forests. If you are interested, please contact Dr. Townsend at vtownsend@vwc.edu. Dr. Sara Sewell will be leading a trip entitled "History of the European City" Jan. 5-20 to Berlin, Germany. If you are interested, please contact Dr. Sewell at ssewell@vwc.edu.
  • Volunteer opportunities with the Career Services Center and the Alumni Association! Are you interested in providing internship opportunities for Virginia Wesleyan students? Or maybe you would rather assist with alumni events? Simply print this document, complete it and fax or mail it back to the Alumni Office. Volunteers are needed to serve on career panels, assist with mock interviews and greet fellow alumni at Alumni Association events. No previous experience or involvement is required!

  • From the Career Services Center: Learn about Job Fairs, recruiters on campus, seminars, career panels, workshops and more! The Instant.Messenger is published weekly throughout the semester and informs students, faculty and administrative staff about upcoming events and activities sponsored by the Career Services Center and other Hampton Roads businesses.   • Back in Action – The Annual Fund for Academic Excellence Student Phonathon: Virginia Wesleyan College's student-based Phonathon will begin its third year of operation on Oct. 9. There are seven students eager to call alumni, parents and friends of the College. Please welcome their phone calls and feel free to ask the student that calls you about his or her experience at Wesleyan.   • Jason Morey '02 and his wife, Emma, welcomed their first child, 6-pound, 2-ounce Imogen Anne Morey, on August 19. The Moreys reside in Dunedin, New Zealand.
  • Catherine Giordano '90 received the Fast 5 Award from Women Impacting Public Policy, a national bipartisan public policy organization. Catherine is president and CEO of the Knowledge Information Systems technology firm in Virginia Beach, Va.
