Marriages and Births

  • Lee-Ann Howard O’Dell ’90 and her husband, Jeff, welcomed their second child, son Mason Grant on December 13, 2005. Mason joins older sister Emilee. Lee-Ann serves as Coordinator of K-12 programs for the University of Virginia Hampton Roads Center.

Personal Updates

  • Melissa Burroughs ’86 has been promoted to the Regional Lending Executive for the Chesapeake Region with Old Point National Bank. Melissa holds an MBA from Old Dominion University.
  • Josephine Franzese ’98 and Adam Moskowitz ’98 (married in 2004) graduated on the same day for the second time in their lives on May 24, 2006.  Josephine earned a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) and Adam earned an MBA in Marketing from Pace University in Manhattan.  Josephine will begin a general practice residency program at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, Conn., while Adam will maintain his position as marketing manager for Signature Bank in Manhattan.  The couple marked their graduation with a move to Ridgefield, Conn. in late May.
  • Deborah (Haithcock) Aylesworth ’02 and her husband opened a gourmet shop, Grape & Gourmet, in February 2006. Their business is located in Virginia Beach, Va.
  • Mae Green ’04 received a Master of Arts degree from Old Dominion University in English.

In Memoriam

  • William A. “Bill” Klyver ’72 passed away on May 27, 2006 in his home after a 10-year battle with cancer. Bill was a History and Political Science major at Virginia Wesleyan, and was the owner of B&T Outboard Service. He and his wife of 34 years, Ruth Anna Hurtt, lived in Moyock, N.C.
  • Vernonda O. Baker ’95 passed away on May 16, 2006. After graduating from Virginia Wesleyan with a LAMP degree, Vernonda went on to earn a Master of Arts degree from George Washington University. From there, she began a career at Vepco in Gloucester, Va., after which she worked in the human resources department at Virginia Natural Gas in Newport News, Va., and then in Norfolk, Va. Vernonda lived in Chesapeake, Va.
