- The Alumni Association's 6th Annual Auction & Party raised over $19,200 this year! The event, held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center on April 26, featured both a Silent and Live Auction and the presentation of the reinstated Alumni Awards. Thanks to all ponsors, donors, and attendees
for making this the biggest Auction to date! - The Parents' Council and Alumni Board of Directors (pictured) both reached 100% participation in the Annual Fund for Academic Excellence for the 2005-2006 fiscal year. Gifts to the Annual Fund for Academic Excellence support student scholarships, technology upgrades and additions, faculty recruitment and development, library resources and critical needs as they arise on campus. - Tuition credit available for transfer students! New incoming transfer students who enroll at Virginia Wesleyan for the Fall 2006 semester can receive tuition credit by enrolling in a summer session course.

- Baseball - (22-20) defeated Randolph-Macon 18-9 at home; defeated North Carolina Wesleyan 15-7 at home; defeated Roanoke College 11-0 and 9-0 at home; defeated Randolph-Macon College 5-1 at R-MC; defeated Lynchburg College 5-3 in 8 innings and 7-5 in 10 innings at Lynchburg; lost to Christopher Newport University 7-6 at CNU; split with Guilford College 5-4 and 5-4 at home; defeated Randolph-Macon College 4-2, Hampden-Sydney College 6-5 and Bridgewater College 1-0 and 7-6 in the ODAC Tournament to clinch the 2006 ODAC title; will play the first round of the NCAA Tournament Wednesday, May 17
- Softball - (27-14) split with Bridgewater College 9-6 (BC) and 5-4 (VWC) at Bridgewater; split with the University of Mary Washington 7-0 (VWC) and 1-0 (UMW) at UMW; split with Eastern Mennonite University 6-3 (VWC) and 4-2 (EMU) at EMU; lost to Eastern Mennonite University 4-1, defeated Emory and Henry College 9-4 and lost to Lynchburg College 6-3 in the ODAC Tournament
- Men's Lacrosse - (9-5 overall; 2-4 ODAC) defeated Colorado College 11-10 at home; lost to Washington and Lee University 11-5 at W&L; defeated Guilford College 12-7 at home; lost to Hampden-Sydney College 23-6 at HSC
- Women's Lacrosse - (14-4) defeated Hollins University 20-3 at home; defeated Villa Julie College 13-11 at home; defeated Randolph-Macon College 12-7 at R-MC; defeated Roanoke College 11-10 at home; lost to University of Mary Washington 19-4 at UMW; lost to Washington and Lee University 9-8 at home; defeated Randolph-Macon College 14-13 and lost to Washington and Lee University 13-7 in the ODAC Tournament
- Men's Tennis - defeated Southern Virginia University 6-1 at home; defeated D-II University of District of Columbia 7-0 at home; defeated North Carolina Wesleyan 7-0 at home; Marlins finish third with VWC record 69 points in 2006 ODAC Tournament; junior Jeff Zenisek and sophomore Eric Caudill take No. 1 doubles title; Steven Wright named ODAC Rookie of the Year; John Brinkman named ODAC Coach of the Year
- Women's Tennis - defeated Southern Virginia University 8-1 at home; defeated D-II University of District of Columbia 5-4 at home; defeated North Carolina Wesleyan College 7-2; record best finish ever in the ODAC tournament, helped by runner-up finishes at No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles
- Golf - finished fifth at Shipbuilders Invitational in Williamsburg, Va.; finished fourth at Buck Leslie Invitational in Lexington, Va.; finished seventh at ODAC Tournament with a 674; senior David Wheeler named to All-ODAC second team
- Outdoor Track - Senior Pat Fulgham recorded a distance of 21 feet, 4 inches in the long jump and set the new VWC record in the discus with a throw of 117-3 at the 2006 ODAC title meet; sophomores Damien Woodley, Tim Sanford and Chris Parker and Fulgham placed fifth in the 4x100 meter relay at 47.47; Woodley and Sanford and rookies Christian Pena and Will Willard placed sixth in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:55.81.
- Outdoor Track - Sophomore Valeria Nuesa broke her own record in the 100 with a time of 13.54 at the 2006 ODAC title meet; rookie Ashley Roane broke her record in the 5,000 run with a time of 20:02; rookie Ashley Ladyman broke her record in the discus with a throw of 102-06; rookie Halie Lyons, Nuesa, Roane, and junior Erika Santamaria placed fourth in the 4x100 relay in a time of 56.51. Lyons, Nuesa, Roane and senior Harley Swan placed fifth in the 4x400 in a time of 5:12.95.
Alumni Announcements
- Heather (Hardman) Lujan '98 and her husband, Arron, welcomed a son, 8-pound 10-ounce Vaughn Aldrich Lujan on March 25, 2006. Heather works in Health Services at Princeton University in New Jersey.
- JoAnne Coniglio '77 was named Accomack County Teacher of the Year for 2006-07. She currently teaches music at Kegotank Elementary School.
