Marriages and Births
- Michael Kaplan '97, M.D. recently opened his own urgent care facility, Lake Area Urgent Care, in Montgomery, Texas. He and his wife, Tara, welcomed 9-pound 2-ounce Aiden Michael Kaplan on December 20, 2005. Aiden joins siblings Cameron, Zachary and Delaney.
- Darcy (Bumpus) Coyle '98 married Bradford Coyle in a waterfront wedding on August 26, 2005 in Newport, R.I. Darcy is employed by UBS Prime Brokerage Services in Boston, Mass. as an Office Manager. The couple recently bought a house in Fall River, Mass.
- Rev. John B. Haynes, Jr. '98 and his wife, Kathleen, welcomed a son, Wesley Ezekiel Haynes, on January 30. John is the pastor at Bruen Chaple United Methodist Church in Fairfax, Va. Kathleen is the pastor at Annandale United
Methodist Church in Annandale, Va. - Jennifer Battaglia '99 gave birth to a son, Owen Michael Sauvager (pictured), on January 7, 2006. The family resides in Buffalo, N.Y.
- Nancy (Mattox) Moore '00 and her husband, Eric,
welcomed their first child, daughter Rachel Catherine Moore (pictured), on June 2, 2005. Nancy is an Online Media Buyer for Circuit City in Richmond, Va.
- Kelly Evans '01 is an Instructional Services Librarian at St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, N.C. She received her Master of Library Science from Indiana University-Bloomington, Ind. in 2004.
- Amy (McCluskey) Johnson '01 and her husband, Chris, welcomed their first son, Elijah Thomas (pictured), on
November 10, 2005. - Jacob Plett '01 is a Behavioral Therapist for The Mentor Network in Moorestown, N.J. He also supervises State Inspections for the Quality Assurance Department.
- Mary Jo Corbitt (Perez-Lopez) '03 and John Corbitt welcomed a daughter, 7-pound 3-ounce Julie Lanell, on February 15, 2006.

- Christopher Allan Hite '91 is a teacher at Hohenfels Elementary School in Beratshausen, Germany. He and his wife, Eleanor Tibay, have a son, Vincent Samuel, 1.
- Margaret Anne Hite '93 is a teacher at Baumholder High School in Kusel, Germany.
- Christina Driscoll '95 is the Administrator of The Ballentine, an assisted living facility in Norfolk, Va.
- John Lockerby '96 is the Assistant Village Manager for Skokie, Ill.
- Vivian "Rip" Sharp '05 is a first-year teacher in Special Education at Campostella Elementary School in Norfolk, Va. She was recommended by central office school administrators to go to a conference in Utah that focuses on promoting collaboration between Special Education and General Education teachers.
In Memoriam
- Bill Garner '94 passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006 after a six-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. Bill was a LAMP major whose careers spanned from multiple managerial positions in banking including CEO and President of the Bank of Powhatan (Powhatan, Va.) through Director of Human Resources and Learning and Development at TCI Cable and AT&T Broadband. Bill spent 20 years in the banking industry before returning to school at Virginia Wesleyan full-time to finish his degree.
