Marriages and Births

  • Angela Ward '87 recently adopted a little boy (pictured) Angela Ward '87from Russia. Angela works as the director of animation and creative services with the Christian Broadcasting Network in Virginia Beach, Va.
  • Brigitte Bradley-Porter '94 and her husband, Brian, welcomed their second Caitlin and Caroline Porterdaughter, Caitlin Elizabeth (pictured), on August 14, 2005. Caitlin joins big sister Caroline Grace, 2. The Porters reside in Virginia Beach, where Brigitte and Brian both work for Virginia Beach Public Schools.

 

  • Crystal Walker '99 married Michael Roy Gosselin, Jr. on November 14, 2005. The couple reside in Hampton, Va.
  • April (Rhodes) Shirley '04 married Nathan Shirley in December 2005 in Las Vegas, Nev. The couple reside in Chesapeake, Va.

Personal Updates

  • Deborah Paxson '75 was named as a judge on the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, 2nd District in Virginia.
  • Mike Shealy '75 was promoted to senior vice president, senior client manager in Premier Banking of Bank of America in Norfolk, Va. Mike has been with the bank since 1988, and previously served as vice president.
  • Bob Pipkin '79 retired from the United States Navy on January 31, 2006 and is now the pastor of the First Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, Va.
  • Paul Ewell '89 and his wife, Sandra '97, recently relocated to the Shenandoah Valley, where Paul teaches at Bridgewater College and Sandra teaches at Harrisonburg High School.
  • Buddy Hayes '90 traveled to Disney for the 5K race and raised over $1,000 for CCI. Buddy will be a contestant in the Ms. Wheelchair Virginia Pageant, which will be held in Richmond in March. The pageant represents women in wheelchairs who are outstanding citizens in the community.
  • Frank G. Bottone, Jr. '93 is an associate medical writing scientist for Global Biostatistics and Medical Writing, Quintiles, Inc. in Research Triangle Park, N.C.
  • Kathryn Fisher '93 is the director of education, programs and volunteers at the Old Coast Guard Station in Virginia Beach, Va.
  • Kristina Kelley '00 is a marketing analyst with ABNB Federal Credit Union in Chesapeake, Va.
  • Deborah DeLorme '01 (pictured) was recently named Deborah DeLorme '01Teacher of the Year. Deborah teaches math at Greenbrier Middle School in Chesapeake, Va.
  • Erin Heischober '01 is a marketing coordinator for www.Homes.com, one of the nation's top online consumer destinations for real estate listings.
  • Rachel Perdue '02 works for ESPN and resides in Connecticut.
  • Monica Mapp '03 is a senior case worker for Homes for Hope, Inc. She resides in Hayettsville, Md.
  • Andy Wissinger '05 is an assistant baseball coach at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Va.

In Memoriam

  • Donna Marie Foos '84 passed away January 12, 2006 at DePaul Medical Center. Donna was a Religious Studies major at Virginia Wesleyan and dedicated her life to work in humanitarian endeavors, in social services on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, as pastor in The United Methodist Church, as development associate at The Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters and, the past seven years, a database administrator at the Southeastern Chapter of the Red Cross.
  • Ralph Goodwin Roop passed away January 21, 2006 at the age of 90. Ralph was a trustee of Virginia Wesleyan College from October 1982 to October 2004, when he was elected to the Emeritus status.
