Top-Grade Players: Scholar-Athletes Honored

Dean's List athletes named at State Farm/VWC Scholar-Athlete Recognition on December 8

Balancing work and play can sometimes prove to be a tricky endeavor, but not for the nearly 70 Virginia Wesleyan Scholar-Athletes who were honored on Dec. 8 for their exceptional accomplishments on and off the field.

Students were recognized Saturday during a ceremony at the Jane P. Batten Student Center. The Scholar-Athletes named were those who are a member of at least one NCAA Division III athletic team at VWC and were named to the Dean's List for the spring 2012 semester. Dean's List is awarded to all students who earn at least a 3.5 GPA. These individuals demonstrate a remarkable level of dedication to their academic pursuits as well as their respective teams.

State Farm partnered with Virginia Wesleyan College to sponsor the scholar-athlete recognition. State Farm Agents Larry Akers, Shawn Fischer, Rhonda Floasin, Joe Query, Milt Rawles, Paula Rosati and John Workman, VWC class of 1985, made this possible.

State Farm Agents Milt Rawles and Tracy Abbott, representing Agent Paula Rosati, were on hand for the event.

Recipients were congratulated by VWC faculty representatives and advisors including Virginia Wesleyan President Dr. William T. "Billy" Greer, who commended the students for their outstanding efforts.
