Chris Harriman, 1991
As the saying goes, once a Marlin, always a Marlin. Chris Harriman, class of 1991, just returned to Virginia Wesleyan College—this time in the role of executive chef. After graduating from VWC with a Bachelors of Arts in history, Chris realized that the culinary arts were his true passion. Chris received his associates degree in culinary arts from the New England Culinary Institute and his second Bachelors of Arts in food and beverage management in 1998.
Chris' professional experience includes 12 years with the Compass Group, the world's largest food service company, serving multiple positions including product manager, director, executive chef, and regional chef. Prior to coming to VWC, Chris last served as the executive chef at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Now at VWC, Chris is looking forward to applying all he's learned to his role as executive chef. Chris spent the first 18 years of his life living in Southeast Asia and Switzerland, and the different cultures he encountered there still influence his work today. "I am looking forward to playing around with the international station," says Chris. In his free time, Chris enjoys spending time with his 9-year-old daughter Julia and his wife Kimberly (Hood '90). He and his family will reside in Virginia Beach.
