On Track for Success
Darren DriscollJunior chemistry major Darren Driscoll receives high accolades for his success as both a conscientious student and record-setting cross country and track athlete. Most recently, he was one of seven student-athletes to receive the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar Athlete Award during the fall athletic schedule. Outside of his academic and athletic requirements, he serves as a Wesleyan Ambassador, chemistry tutor and member of the Gamma Sigma Epsilon Chemistry Honor Society. This past summer, Driscoll interned with the National Institute of Standards and Technology U.S. Department of Commerce in Gaithersburg, MD. He is making great strides in his studies and plans to further his education in graduate school.

Driscoll's exceptional talent on and off the track made him a top qualifier for many other private institutions, but he decided to pursue his degree at Virginia Wesleyan College because of the scholarship opportunities available to him. Gifts to the Annual Fund help maintain many of these scholarships, as well as an array of study abroad programs, internships, undergraduate research and community service projects.

VWC Hall of Fame2013 Hall of Fame Inductees Named
Register for the Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Luncheon

Established in March 2008, the Athletic Hall of Fame honors those who, by outstanding achievement in athletics, by service to athletics, or through significant contributions to athletics, have had a lasting effect on Virginia Wesleyan College's intercollegiate athletic program.

Members of the fifth class represent the best of the best from Virginia Wesleyan's athletic history. Members will be inducted during a special ceremony on Saturday, February 2.

The five 2013 inductees are Brandon L. Adair '12 – Men's Basketball (2003-07); Anne Marie Nash Burroughs '04 – Women's Lacrosse (2001-04); Sonny A. Travis, Men's Soccer Coach (1989-06); William H. Williard '82 – Men's Golf (1978-82); and the 2006 Men's Basketball Team.

"The College's Athletic Hall of Fame represents not only the physical and mental skill required of these athletes, but also the dedication, heart and sense of community that comes with being a member of a team," said Virginia Wesleyan President Dr. William T. "Billy" Greer. "We are humbled and proud to honor the true sportsmanship of these Marlins."

Selections for the fifth class were made by the Athletic Hall of Fame Committee with representation from coaching staff, alumni athletes and faculty and staff members. Gary D. Bonnewell '79, first vice president wealth management, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, and member of the Virginia Wesleyan Board of Trustees, serves as the chair.

"Virginia Wesleyan has a long line of talented and qualified athletes," remarked Bonnewell. "With more than 60 nominations this year, our selections have become more and more difficult." More
