Dr. Aubrey Westfall is an assistant professor of political science a. Dr. Westfall specializes in comparative politics and international relations with a secondary focus on research methodology. Her regional specialization is Western Europe. Her research focuses on the political experiences of minority groups, especially immigrants. Her research on migration policies and has been supported by Fulbright and the European Commission. Her teaching interests center on her work in minority politics and human rights. She has taught 15 courses from the political scinece and international studies curriculum, including a Model United Nations course, and a comparative politics study abroad course in Spain and Morocco.
Dr. Westfall is currently a principal investigator on the largest academic online survey of Muslim-American women on the topic of veiling and its possible politicization in the United States. Herself and three other interdisciplinary scholars have gathered some 2000 survey responses across the 50 states, and have conducted focus group interviews to complement the survey in D.C., Norfolk, Boston, New York City, Houston, Detroit, Chicago, and San Francisco. Their hope is to have the book collating these findings under contract with a university press by March 2013.
