Finding Older Information

Students find that sometimes they need very current information and sometimes they need older information on a topic. The following are some suggestions for locating older sources of information.

  1. Remember that the Internet and many online sources of information have only been strong sources of information since the 1980s. Prior to that, most sources of information were found in print books.
  2. Print indexes are a good source for articles that appeared prior to the internet's rise in the 1980s.
  3. Bibliographies on a particular subject provide lists of articles, books and other sources of information. For example, the following bibliography would provide many sources of information on the holocaust: By words alone : the Holocaust in literature by Sidra DeKoven Ezrahi.
