Renovation FAQs
Q: When will the library reopen?
A: We are not closed. Aside from holiday or campus closings, the Library will stay open during the summer and fall, just in a different location. All library services (research assistance, circulation, reserves, interlibrary loan, etc.) will remain available throughout the renovation.
Q: How can I get any research done without the books?!
A: We are keeping a very small collection of print books. Some will be on reserve for specific classes; some will be part of a circulating collection.
Additionally, our NetLibrary collection includes more than 50,000 electronic books. These books are regular print books that have been digitized. For any electronic book in the NetLibrary collection, the pagination, graphics, illustrations, etc. are the same as the print version. The only difference is in access: electronic versus manual. There are two ways to access our NetLibrary collection. You can click the "Includes ebooks" icon in a book catalog search, or you can search the NetLibrary collection directly by selecting it from the Article Databases list.
As always, the Library’s collection of article databases provides you with electronic access to the full-text for over 22,000 articles in academic journals, magazines, newspapers, and more.
Alternately, you can take advantage of VWC's membership in the Virginia Tidewater Consortium for Higher Education (VTC), which allows Virginia Wesleyan students, faculty, and staff to check out books from any area academic library. At many of these libraries, visitors are also able to use archival and electronic collections.
