As part of the Annual Fund for Academic Excellence, the Marlin Student Phonathon callers connect with alumni, parents, and friends informing them of the latest happenings at Wesleyan and encouraging their support.
In 2010-2011, the Virginia Wesleyan College Phonathon generated $61,943 from 896 Wesleyan supporters!
Why do we call?
Our goal is to increase Annual Fund participation among alumni, parents, and friends and to update and inform those who may not be able to come back to campus for a visit.
The Annual Fund supports the needs of students in order to provide a high-quality educational experience. Our Phonathon callers are a key element to increasing Annual Fund participation and support for the College’s most pressing needs. Phonathon callers are committed to helping maintain the Wesleyan experience for current and future Marlins.
When do we call? Phonathon callers meet four evenings a week, Sunday through Thursday, from
6 to 9 p.m. on the second floor of Godwin Hall during the fall and spring semesters.
Who do we call?
Phonathon callers will connect with Wesleyan alumni, parents, and friends across the nation as a fundraiser and a “friend raiser.”
How do I become a Phonathon caller?
You will be part of a team that will raise funds for Wesleyan's Annual Fund for Academic Excellence, which provides support for the college's most critical needs such as:
- Undergraduate research
- Library resources
- Computer lab upgrades
- Faculty recruitment and development
As a Phonathon caller, you will serve as a representative for Virginia Wesleyan College while also updating information and informing donors about College events.
A paid training program is required, which gives students the opportunity to learn about the history of VWC and to receive an overview of College fundraising.
