Admitted Student Days
The Admissions Office will host a series of Admitted Student Days for all students who have been admitted to the College for fall 2008. Students are encouraged to participate in one of these days which includes a campus tour, an individual meeting with a Financial Aid representative, a student panel and a complimentary lunch in the Dining Hall. Going to College with the Adult Studies Program
The Adult Studies Program at Virginia Wesleyan College is holding an information session for adults interested in going to college at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 3 in Clarke Hall. This information session will cover topics such as degree programs offered, tips for success, learning support available for non-traditional students, credit transfers, guaranteed admission for Virginia community college students, employer tuition deferral programs, financial aid options and how to enroll. Annual Fund for Academic Excellence
The Annual Fund for Academic Excellence provides more than $400,000 in annual scholarship support for students. Jackie Boyce '08 said “Without the award, I would not have been able to afford to attend a four year college. This scholarship enabled me to pursue a college degree by alleviating the financial burden I would have had to assume. Stephanie Hinson Fisher '03
Stephanie Hinson Fisher '03 opened Busy Bees Children's Boutique with a friend in May 2007. Busy Bees is located in the Hilltop East Shopping Center of Virginia Beach, Va. This new children's hot spot offers clothing and accessories for infants to tweens. In October 2007, Busy Bees showcased fall and winter fashions for the Women of Wesleyan Fashion Extravaganza. This annual event is a highly successful scholarship fundraiser for the College. Busy Bees also donates to non-profit and charitable organizations throughout the year. Stephanie is married to Josh Fisher '02, who works for the Virginia Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Melissa Butcher '99 joins the Office of Alumni Relations
Melissa L. Butcher '99 is the new assistant director of Alumni Relations. A communications major, after graduation she gained extensive event planning experience at Westminster Canterbury and Florida Keys Community College. As the assistant director of Alumni Relations, Melissa will be involved in alumni event planning and alumni association membership. Melissa and her husband, David, recently welcomed the arrival of their son, Matthew.

Michael Barenti (1986) writes, "Mike Barenti (1986) had his first book, Kayaking Alone: Nine Hundred Miles from Idaho's Mountains to the Pacific Ocean, published by the University of Nebraska Press.
Jessica (Bartee) Thompson (1994) and William "Bill" Thompson II (1992) are proud to announce the birth of a baby girl, Emily "Emmy" Elizabeth. She was born on December 31, 2007 in Concord, N.C., and weighed 8 lb., 13 oz.. Emmy joins older sister Abby, 4.
Susan (Vacher) Messenger (1997) has moved to solo practice at Law Office of Susan L. Messenger located in Virginia Beach. Susan recently was employed at W. Ware Morrison, PLLC as Senior Attorney.
Melissa (Lambert) Butcher (1999) and David Butcher are proud to announce the birth of a baby boy, David Matthew. He was born on December 27, 2007 in Ports. Naval, Portsmouth, VA, and weighed 7 lb., 11.5 oz.
Kristen Poe (2006) and Josh Lehman are happy to announce their marriage on June 2, 2007 in Manakin Episcopal Church, Powhatan, Va. Kristen is Business Accounts Administrator with Legacy Express in Richmond. Josh attended VWC 2003-04 and is a Virginia State Trooper.
