Marriages and Births

  • Bruce Goodson '79 married Kathryn Penoyer on July 7 in the Bruton Parish Church, Williamsburg. The couple resides in Williamsburg, Va.
  • Liz (McDougal) Millinor '96 and her husband, Dave, welcomed their second child, Luke David, 9
    pounds 6 ounces on May 14. Luke joins big sister, Sarah Elizabeth, 2. The family resides in Oak Harbor, Wash.
  • Jackson Carper
    Holly (Wester) Carper '97 and her husband, Lance Van Auken, welcomed their first son, Jackson Charles (pictured), 9 pounds 1 ounce and 20 inches on April 19. Holly is a senior territory manager with a pharmaceutical company, Allergan, Inc. The family resides in Virginia Beach, Va.
  • Leya (Atangan) Macchi '97 and her husband, Adam, welcomed their second child, Lana on Oct. 27, 2006. Lana joins big sister, Gianna, 2. The family resides in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
  • Adam Moskowitz '98 and Josephine Franzese '98 welcomed their first child, daughter Ella Marie 6 pounds 10 ounces on June 7. The family resides in Ridgefield, Conn.
  • Sarah (Rutherford) Smiley '98 and husband, Dustin, welcomed their third son, Lindell Grant, 7 pounds 11 ounces on January 9. Lindell joins big brothers Ford, 6, and Owen, 4.The family resides in Pensacola, Fla.
  • Kristin (Kail) Stowe '98 married David Stowe on June 23 in Richmond, Va.
  • Jay Smith '03 married Rebecca Muhr on June 8 at Vineyard Caterers in Aquebogue, N.Y.
  • Summer Foster '04 married Victor Blandburg II on May 26. The couple resides in Annandale, Va.
  • Elainie Martin '04 married Charles Brown '04 on Sept. 16, 2006.
  • Sherry Shumate '04 married David Smith on August 4 at First Landing State Park. Rev. Bob "Chappy" Chapman '79 performed the ceremony. Sherry has been accepted into Drew University divinity program in New Jersey.
  • Robyn (Bulloch) Hirsch '05 and her husband, Kenny, welcomed a son, Cayden Nicholas, 8 pounds 7 ounces on July 19.

  • Tyree Brown '80 is a real estate agent with William E. Wood and Associates. He resides in Charlotte, N.C. with his wife, Audrey.
  • Carol (Scotece) Armstrong-Minton '83 is the owner of Just For Baby Gifts & Gifts by Caroline.
  • Alan Vaughan '85 is the clerk for the Chesapeake City School Board.
  • Tom Palombo '89 will be the interim athletic director for Guilford College beginning August 31.
  • Christine (Wickfors) Steadman '92 is a loan officer with First of America Mortgage.
  • Donna Lynn Hall '92 is a program manager at University of Maine System in Bangor, Maine.
  • Lori (Simpers) McCarel '94 is the director for annual giving at Virginia Wesleyan College. She resides in Suffolk, Va., with her husband Eric McCarel '93 and three children, Zachary, 11, Kylea, 9, and Connor, 2.
  • Mary Miller '93 is a guidance counselor at Ardery Kell High School located in Charlotte, N.C.
  • Heather (Rider) Mina '93 is a software engineer for Harris IT Services. She has been with the company for four years.
  • Jacquelyn Cordery Boswell '95 is a high school basketball coach in Baltimore, Md. She was named Baltimore Sun Coach of the Year for the second straight year and traveled to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. to coach the USA National team at the 17u Youth Festival.
  • Daniel Dressing '95 is a sergeant within the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center in Seneca County, N.Y.
  • Pamela (Pappas) Genske '96 is a human resource manager for solutions and development for Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Rhode Island.
  • Mike McFarland '96 is the head men's soccer coach for Virginia Wesleyan College.
  • Julie Ecker '00 is a veterinary nurse at Old Dominion Animal Health Center in McLean, Va.
  • Brandon Elliott '03 is the head softball coach for Virginia Wesleyan College.
  • Jane Rosson '03 is a project assistant with L.M. Sandler & Sons, Inc. in Virginia Beach, Va.
  • TreDella Hall '04 is a probation officer for the Norfolk Juvenile Court located in Norfolk, Va. She received a master of arts in counseling from Hampton University in May.
  • Meg Puckett '04 is an educator at the Museum of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City, N.C.
  • Jonathan Karpenske '06 and Mary-Lynn Novelle '07 were engaged on July 15. A wedding is planned for the summer of 2009.
  • Mark Banks '07 is a police officer with the 3rd precinct of the Virginia Beach Police Department. He is assigned to the 3rd precinct.
