  • As of Dec. 21, the Annual Fund for Academic Excellence is well on its way to reaching its goal of $1,325,000.  Alumni, parents, friends, churches, foundations and corporations have contributed $756,255 in gifts and pledges to the 2005-2006 Annual Fund Campaign.  The Annual Fund for Academic Excellence allows President Greer a quick response to the College’s greatest needs.  To make a secure online gift to the Annual Fund, please click here.

  • Men's Basketball - defeated Eastern Mennonite University 78-75 in overtime @ EMU; defeated North Carolina Wesleyan College 108-89 @ NCWC; defeated Newport News Apprentice 98-51 at home; defeated Methodist College 77-68 at home; defeated Lynchburg College 69-66 in overtime @ Lynchburg
  • Women's Basketball - defeated Salisbury University 73-60 at home; defeated Eastern Mennonite University 59-57 @ EMU; defeated Christopher Newport University 70-64 @ CNU; defeated Washington & Lee University 72-69 at home
  • Men's Indoor Track - freshman Brandon Spaulding, junior Mark Banks and freshman Robert Aaron all broke the College's 3,000-meter record at the season-opening Lid-Lifter indoor track and field competition at Christopher Newport University; sophomore Damien Woodley set personal records in the 200 and 400 dashes; freshman Sebastien Austin produced the first College records in 55- and 60-meter hurdles
  • Women's Indoor Track - Sophomore Valerie Nuesa set new personal records in the 55-, 60- and 200-meter dash events; freshman Ashley Roane set a College record in the mile; freshman Ashley Ladyman became the first Virginia Wesleyan athlete to compete in the shot put and set the College record at 29-11.

Alumni Announcements

  • Ken Fowler ' 93 participated in the ESPN National Golf Challenge National Finals Tournament in Las Vegas, Nev. on Nov. 15 and 16. The two-day, two-man best-ball tournament was sponsored by ESPN, Callaway Golf and Mandalay Bay and was aired on ESPN2 on Dec. 17.
  • Diane (Greentree) Tschirgi '94 and her husband, Charter, welcomed son Nolan on May 27, 2005. The Tschirgis live in Juneau, Alaska.
