Jan Soderman Pace began her appointment as Hofheimer Library's Director in 1999 after having served at Virginia Wesleyan College as Reference Librarian/Instructor since 1991. She received her bachelor's degree from Northern Arizona University, graduating magna cum laude, and her master's degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh, where she was inducted into the Phi Beta Mu library honor society. Jan has worked in a variety of library settings in Arizona, West Virginia, and Virginia. She is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi national honor society and currently chairs the Library Directors Committee of the Virginia Tidewater Consortium for Higher Education. Jan lives in Virginia Beach with her husband, attorney Michael D. Pace and their two sons, Matthew and Robert. Her interests are numerous and diverse, ranging from outdoor sports and activities, to art and music appreciation. Jan's prescription for success in college? "One foot in the classroom and the other in the library." Of course.
