PAUL'S CHALLENGE FOR TODAY'S DISCIPLES
Sometimes we moderns forget that the problems of our time are not all that different from the problems of past generations and ages. This is especially true of the Christian Church, and when we read and study the New Testament, especially the letters of Paul, we find that the problems then are exactly the same as some of our problems in Christian discipleship today. What solutions did Paul suggest forthe churches then? Can they still be applied to disciples in the churches of today? In these lectures we shall examine a few of those problems and Paul's "solutions."

Duke Divinity School
An ordained Presbyterian Minister (UPUSA), Dr. Efird has taught for many years at Duke, and has been involved in its Lay Academy program as well as its United Methodist Course of Study program. In addition he has served as interim supply pastor in various denominations. He has written 14 books and over sixty articles. He is a contributor to the Harper Collins Dictionary of the Bible. We look forward to this distinguished teacher for our 2009 Continuing Education Seminar at Virginia Wesleyan College. This seminar has been approved by the Virginia Annual Conference for the awarding of one CEU.
