CSRF Open House & Soup

On Friday, October 31—the 497-year anniversary of Reformation Day—the Center for the Study of Religious Freedom invites the campus and community to visit the CSRF Office Suite in Clarke Hall anytime between noon and 2 p.m. Come and welcome new staff, enjoy goulash stew, and have lively conversation about Martin Luther’s 95 Theses, or whatever else is on your mind. This is the first of monthly CSRF Soup on Friday celebrations. Soup days are opportunities for faculty, staff, students and members of the broader community to come together for warm food and fellowship. "Nica Esperanza"
12 p.m. - 1 p.m.
The short film “Nica Esperanza” by VWC communication student John Davis '15 will be shown in the Pearce Hospitality Suite inside the Jane P. Batten Student Center on Tuesday, November 11 from noon to 1 p.m. The documentary showcases the Nicaraguan organization House of Hope, which is dedicated to the rehabilitation and vocational training of women who have been victims of sexual exploitation. The film highlights the Tuesday Morning program, a worship, work and educational program that combines the word of God and jewelry making. Prior to the screening VWC Chaplain Greg West and Assistant Professor of Sociology Alison Marganski will provide background and context, and afterward Professor of Communication Kathy Merlock Jackson will moderate discussion.
