50 ° Fair
Sunday, October 26, 4:00pm
Virginia Beach United Methodist Church
Dr. Michael Trotta
“Small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life . . .” (Matthew 7:14)
The Center’s annual fall hymn festival explores the Christian journey. Dr. Michael Trotta conducts the Wesleyan Worship Choir with Sharon Foxwell, organist.
All singers are invited to be part of the chorus (music is provided). Rehearse the day of the hymn festival at 3:00pm.
Hymns have played a vital role in worship since the earliest Christians gathered to worship the risen Christ. Congregational singing exploded anew with the Protestant Reformation and The Center for Sacred Music's annual Hymn Festival continues to encourage the great tradition of the people's song.
Various churches in the Hampton Roads area play host to the festival each October, and you can be a part of this great afternoon of singing by being part of a massed choir that leads the congregation in singing, and presents several special selections.
There is no charge to participate, and whether you bring your entire choir or come alone, you'll be inspired by the message of the Word, both sung and spoken, delight in the instruction of the guest conductors, and enjoy the fellowship of Christians in song.
For further details or to register, call the Center at 757-455-3376, or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Music will be provided in advance of the festival day. All choir members take part in one rehearsal at 3:00pm on the day of the festival which follows at 4:00pm. Music should be learned in advance.
