  • Received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Wilkes University
  • Only the fourth head coach in the 40-year history of the men's basketball program
  • 2008-09 season marks his ninth at Virginia Wesleyan College, where he has guided the Marlins to a 175-57 record overall, a 109-35 regular-season mark in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) competition and to four straight NCAA tournament appearances and a 12-3 NCAA tournament record
  • Current 75% winning average ranks him No. 1 among all of VWC's men's basketball coaches
  • Guided Virginia Wesleyan to a 28-5 record and the national runner-up trophy in 2007; guided the Marlins to a 30-3 record in 2006 and to its first National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III national championship in any sport
  • 2005-06 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III National Coach of the Year; Molten/DIII News National Coach of the Year; D3hoops.com National Coach of the Year
  • 2005-06 NABC South Region Coach of the Year and ODAC Coach of the Year
  • Selected as the Virginia College Division Coach of the Year by the Virginia Sports Information Directors in 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07
  • Guided Virginia Wesleyan to a 30-3 finish in 2006, the first 30-win season in program history
  • Coached Virginia Wesleyan to three ODAC regular-season first-place finishes, ODAC tournament championships in 2005 and 2006, the first back-to-back conference titles in program history
  • Macedo-coached teams have set seven of the top eight defensive averages in program history, the top seven marks for three-point field goals made, and the top four totals for points scored in a season
  • Spent two years as an assistant basketball coach for VWC, before taking over the head coaching duties
  • Prior to coming to VWC, he was a two-year assistant basketball coach at Wilkes University, his alma mater, where the team compiled a 46-11 record, earned two Freedom League championships, one Middle Atlantic Conference championship and made two trips to the NCAA tournament and one Final Four appearance
  • A four-year starting point guard for Wilkes, guiding the Colonels to an 89-22 record, two league championships, and two appearances in the NCAA's Elite Eight in 1995 and 1996
  • Inducted into the Somerset Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002

  • 2001 graduate of Roanoke College, where he earned bachelor's degree in Health and Human Performance
  • Received is Master of Arts, Liberal Studies, from Hollins University in 2003
  • Four-year letterman in basketball at Roanoke, earning Street & Smith Honorable Mention All-American honors as a senior
    Earned All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference and All-South Region honors
  • Helped to guide Roanoke to NCAA Tournament second round appearances in 2000 and 2001
  • Selected as the ODAC Tournament Most Valuable Player in 2000
  • Played professional basketball in the American Basketball Association with the Southern California Surf for one season
  • Former assistant varsity boys basketball coach and health and physical education teacher at Patrick Henry High School in Roanoke
  • Current director of the Quick Release Sports Academy and the Quick Release Summer Sports Camps in Lynchburg, Virginia

  • 1999 graduate of Virginia Wesleyan College where he played basketball from 1996 through 1999
  • Fourth season at VWC in 2007-08
  • Coached the Bayside High School boys basketball team for four seasons before returning to Virginia Wesleyan
  • Transfered to VWC from Teikyo Post University, a Division II program, where he was a scholarship player
  • Also served as an assistant boys basketball coach at Norfolk Collegiate School for one season
  • Has one son, Drew
