2008 Marlins Softball Camp
The 2008 Marlins Softball Camp offers exceptional softball instructional camps for girls of all ages, levels, positions and abilities. All camps are held at the Virginia Wesleyan Softball Complex. A certified athletic trainer will be on staff for camp.

Marlins Day Camp
- June 16-20 (Ages 8-12)
This camp will provide beginner, intermediate and advanced softball instruction for athletes ages 8-12. The main focus will be on developing each player's hitting techniques and giving instruction on proper fielding and throwing techniques. Groups will be formed according to ability and age.
Ages: 8-12
Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday
Cost: $200 per camper for the full day. $100 for half-day campers or Little League All-Stars. Payment is due in full no later than Friday, June 6. Make

registration form and entire balance, a confirmation e-mail will be sent
to you.
Meals: Campers should bring their own lunches.
Equipment to bring: Glove, bat, cleats, sunblock, lunches
Hitting Camp
- July 7-11 (Ages 8-18)
This camp will provide beginner, intermediate and advanced softball hitting instruction. Athletes will receive drill work instruction on hitting tees and in the batting cages. In addition, athletes will participate in live batting practice with live pitching.
Ages: 8-18
Time: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday-Friday
Cost: $125 per camper. Payment is due in full no later than Friday, June 27. Registration fee for payments made after June 27 is $150. Marlins Half Day Camp
- July 21-25 (Ages 12-18)
This camp will provide beginner, intermediate and advanced softball instruction for athletes ages 12-18. The main focus will be on developing each player's hitting techniques and giving instruction on proper fielding and throwing techniques. Groups will be formed according to ability and age.

Time: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday-Friday
Cost: $125 per camper. Payment is due in full no later than Friday, July 11 . Registration fee for payments made after July 11 is $150. Pitcher/Catcher Camp
- July 30-31 (Ages 8-18)
The Pitcher/Catcher Camp is for athletes who want to improve their pitching and catching skills. Each camper will have the opportunity to throw live pitching from the mound.
Ages: 8-18
Time: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday
Cost: $75 per camper. Payment is due in full no later than Friday, July 18. Registration fee for payments made after July 18 is $100. Began his first full season as head softball coach for the Marlins in 2007-08 after serving as interim coach for the final two months of the 2006-07 season

- Coached four seasons as an assistant with the Virginia Wesleyan baseball team, working with outfielders and base runners
- 2003 graduate of Virginia Wesleyan College, earning a degree in communications
- Four-year member of the VWC baseball team; helped lead the Marlins to two ODAC titles; 2003 captain of a team that finished 34-9
- Led the league in stolen bases in 2003
- Named to VWC's Dean's List seven of eight semesters
- Teaches special education in the Virginia Beach school system
Rick Staube
- Assistant VWC Softball Coach
- Has been the pitching coach since 2000 at Princess Anne High School, helping the Cavaliers to an overall 136-24 record, four district titles, three regional titles and the 2003 Virginia state championship
- Head coach of the Virginia Eagles 12U and 14U travel teams for two seasons, guiding the teams to two consecutive top four finishes at the Pony National Tournament
- Coached as an assistant for two years at Central Methodist, helping lead the Eagles to the 1982 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national championship tournament in Texas
- 1983 graduate of Central Methodist College in Fayette, Mo., with a degree in physical education
- Retired from active duty with the United States Navy in 2005 after 20 years of service
Heide Cavallo
- Head Softball Coach, Bayside High School
- One of the top pitchers in VWC history, ranking No. 2 in career strikeouts (382) and No. 3 in career innings pitched (532) and earned run average (1.91)
- Ranks No. 1 in VWC history with 22 shutouts
- Owns four of the Marlins' top seven single-season strikeout totals
- Helped guide VWC to a 112-54 overall record in four years, including a 43-9 record in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference
Members of the Marlin softball team, as well as guest coaches from area softball programs, will also serve as camp clinicians.
